Guest guest
I don't have a recipe, but have you considered dehydrating the sprouted wheat and then grinding it in the Vita Mix to make flour. It will give you a lighter cracker. Also, my book says to soak flax seed for 6-8 hours. Guest guest
You could give it a shot, although, if i were you, I'd use more flax seeds (maybe a cup or more?) and soak them a little longer. And when you soak them, include all the other ingredients. It will make things alot easier. Good luck! Guest guest
From my experiments, I would second Jen's suggestion to use more flax seed. I have played with only using a little flax seed, but it seems like, for me, for two-three trays of crackers, the best binder which will make a decent cracker (as opposed to something that will crumble when you look at it) or chip, I need to use at least 2 cups of flax seed and soak the seeds for several hours (the shortest time I have done it was 2 hours, but, if you soak longer, the seeds get gooey-er, and then you have a better base for your crackers, to which you can add just about any seasoning you like. (I put in 1 cup of ground up sun-dried tomatoes in the last batch, with Italian seasoning - mmmm) Margaret Jen wrote: > > if i were you, I'd use more flax seeds (maybe a cup or more?) > and soak them a little longer. Guest guest
I never soak my golden flax seed. I just grind them up in the vitamix. And then mix it with all the rest of the incredients. I soaked them the first time and seems not as easy to work with as just grinding them up to flour. Guest guest
I found it to be much easier not grinding them. Then again I was just making " flax seeds with chopped celery, and spices " to make " flax crackers " After soaking all the ingredients for about 6 hours, I pour it on to the teflex sheet. no mess. What a piece of cake. Well, that's just my experience...;-) Now if I want to make other crackers, I'll definitely grind them up before hand. rbwest01 wrote: I never soak my golden flax seed. Guest guest
Well I am never that great in following recepes so I will try; 2 cups golden flax seeds 1 cup destemmed cilantro 2 cups broccoli (top pieces only) 2 cups celery 2 cups of spinach 1 cup sun dried tomatoes 2 cups bell peppers 1 cup shredded carrots 1/4 tsp sea salt 1/8 tsp cayenne (optional) put flax seed thru blender until flour set aside put sun dried tomatoes in blender until powder. Add to flax put all the rest through a food processor and then add it all to the flax seed. Mix it well plus the celtic sea salt. Put in the dehydrator and let go at 108F for about 5-6 hours then remove from the teflon???? sheets and flip over directly onto the trays. Make sure you do not make the crackers thick. Taste great with raw hummus, salsa etc. Robert W > > kefir king <kefir_king > 2006/03/20 Mon AM 06:09:01 EST > rawfood > Re: Re: [Raw Food] Crackers...how do i make crackers... > >
