Guest guest
I simply do not understand this whole bit about not being able to research. Aren't any of the raw food gurus out there running clinics? If you run a clinic, then clearly you have a significant test bed and can form some measurable conclusions. What's more, clinics have the additional resources necessary to run such tests and they certainly have the necessary client base to generate longitudinal studies, even if only based on regularly administered questionnaires and test results obtained from client's PCPs. The excuses on this are flimsy at best. James

I think a lot of people feel they need large numbers. I do know from my days in health related fields that you can do small n studies that are considered reliable and even single subject designs. I think that one of the problems is that the government, pharmo companies and such usually run large n studies and then don't want to accept the results of some of the small studies. My impression is that there is a growing body of research that is beginning to emerge that indicates that the more we process our food the more we lose from it. I ran across some info yesterday and will forward the articles if I can find them again. It wasn't the actual articles but reports of the articles. The issue of funding is a big one for running larger studies. Someone has to pay for them and if they aren't going to profit from the results there aren't a lot of groups out there willing to spend money. My guess is that the people selling alternative and organic items aren't making the big bucks needed for this. And, if you want insight into how the government agencies work in this area read the last third of Colin Campbell's book, The China Study. His book should be enough to convince anyone to become a vegetarian. He doesn't go into raw. Tammy
Guest guest
James - I think the issue is money. Sure they can take all their numbers and information from their clinics, but there are folks out there such as yourself that will debunk whatever it is they have to say. There needs to be double blind studies by a third party and yada, yada, yada.... My body knows what it wants and it wants raw, organic fruits and vegetables preferably one at a time. There comes a time when you just " know " you won't be sick and you will " know " that all your nutritional needs are met and you will " know " there's no way anyone can convince me otherwise. Just as I " know " the medical/chemical communities cannot convince me chemo and radiation will " cure " cancer. Yeah, right.........and I've got waterfront property for you in Arizona. Guest guest
Waterfront property in AZ is very valuable and the value is increasing at about 50% a year right now. Don't sell it to James, just keep it and in a few years you will be very wealthy!! :-) On Mar 20, 2006, at 7:39 PM, SV wrote: > James - I think the issue is money. Sure they can take all their > numbers and information from their clinics, but there are folks out > there such as yourself that will debunk whatever it is they have to > say. There needs to be double blind studies by a third party and > yada, yada, yada.... > > My body knows what it wants and it wants raw, organic fruits and > vegetables preferably one at a time. There comes a time when you just > " know " you won't be sick and you will " know " that all your nutritional > needs are met and you will " know " there's no way anyone can convince > me otherwise. > > Just as I " know " the medical/chemical communities cannot convince me > chemo and radiation will " cure " cancer. Yeah, right.........and I've > got waterfront property for you in Arizona. > > Shari > >
