Guest guest
My favorite is a shredded apple, shredded pear, a few ground nuts, almond milk and cinnamon and maybe some berries thrown on top. Guest guest
Fruit smoothies or as much juicy fruit as I want. My kids and I can demolish <G> a whole watermelon in minutes. LOL Smoothie recipe: 1-2 bananas for each person Fresh apple juice (1 apple's juice for each person) and a cup or more of FROZEN fruit- whatever you like Blend and pour. The frozen fruit makes it very thick like a milkshake! To make it 'stick with you longer' you can add a TB of tahini or 1/2 an avocado.... I find breakfast the easiest meal. It's dinner I'm having challenges with. Still cooking for my family. ARGH. Pam I'm curious -- what do some of you eat for breakfast? I'm finding it to be the most difficult meal to have raw (remember -- got that no-sweet-tooth issue).
Guest guest
I also find breakfast to be the easiest meal to do raw. I have fruit (another Fit For Life person here) until lunch, and I have a huge salad then. (Though I recently had a doctor tell me that having fruit all morning is very unhealthy and bad for insulin levels. When I told him it seemed to work beautifully for me, he said, " well, yeah, on the outside maybe... but what's it doing to your insides? " My thought was, whatever was happening on the inside would be reflected on the outside and there is certainly no arguing with how I feel... so, I'm not sure what the heck he was talking about.) ANYWAY, it's dinner that *I* have the most trouble with, and it doesn't help that my dear husband is constantly pushing spaghetti and garlic bread! haha I work all day and go to school, so I don't have a lot of time to prepare fancy meals right now. I think he's wanting something more substantial than I have the time to create or that he has the motivation to learn how to make. I keep telling him that if he'll only make enough money so that I can stay home then I'm happy to make all manner of gourmet foods for him! So far, it's not a big enough incentive! Boo! Guest guest
I did smoothies for a while but the problem there is I just don't like something sweet at breakfast. (For the main part, I don't like sweet much at all but DEFINITELY not first thing in the morning.) The rest of the day is no biggie -- I can do a salad, gnosh on fruits or veggies and so forth but that first meal just keeps me scratchin' my head. Guest guest
Usually bananas, since they're easy to eat while cooking the kids' breakfast. Guest guest
I tend to drink contents of a young thai coconut for breakfast, saving the rest for later. What did you eat pre-raw? Guest guest
Hi James, Have you tried green smoothies..... the veggies cut the sweetness of the fruit and the fruit cuts the strong veggie taste. They are in my opinion sort of neutral tasting in terms of sweetness. One of my favorites is 1 bunch of parsley with 2 mangos and about 1 cup of water. Another good one is 2 to 3 cups of spinach, a cup of berries, 1 banana, 1 cup or so of water. I usually add either raw hemp seed or Thor's raw protein powder to these smoothies. What about fresh veggie juice with one of the raw protein powders? I drink the Green Lemonade from Natalie Rose's The Raw Detox Diet...... 1 head of romaine, 4 to 6 stalks of kale, 1 lemon, 1 to 2 apples, an inch of ginger, and occasionally a small clove of garlic. If I do not plan on a green smoothie later in the morning I add my raw protein powder to this. HTH, Leslie

Guest guest
A green drink about 3-4 cups. > > " Noctaire " <noctaire > 2006/03/20 Mon AM 08:51:18 EST > <rawfood > > [Raw Food] Breakfast...? > >
Guest guest
> What did you eat pre-raw? The standard -- meat, egg, toast; leftovers from a previous meal; etc. I've done smoothies, both with and without greens -- it still doesn't work for me. This may also be more a matter of bulk than flavor as well. James
Guest guest
Green smoothies. I've been known to have romaine, tomato, celery, tomato and a touch of onion and garlic for breakfast. I call it salsa in a glass! Usually though I like romaine, pineapple or mango or whatever is ripe, and a banana and water. The banana could be left out, I just put it in to make it more like a smoothie, thick and creamy. Shari
Guest guest
Hmmm...How bout a mixture of soaked/sprouted wheatberries (sprout in about 24 hours), a variety of soaked/sprouted nuts, dried fruit (may make it too sweet for your taste, though) and maybe some spices? It would end up like an oatmeal/porridge feel and be very filling and could be as non-sweet as you like it...
