I found a soap called " Pure Castile Soap "

ingredients:

Water, Potassium Cocoate (derived from coconut), Potassium Tallate (derived

from pine), Glycerin, Vanilla Oil, Almond Oil, Olive Oil, Aloe Vera.

I am trying to put good oils on my skin - other than coconut oil which is so

expensive.

There is nothing else in this soap.

What do you think?

I use a pure castile soap also, stings very bad when it gets in your

eyes, trust me on that.

I've bought it in bulk bottles at the health food store.

I have used this type of soap before and was pleased with it. Giving it a try

will let your skin speak for itself!! I like to use the coconut oil as a lotion

a couple times a week as soon as I get out the shower, especially when it is

cold and dry up here in the mountains. Love the way it feels and it soaks in

rather fast. I even put the coconut oil on my face and it is baby soft now.

I've heard about using coconut oil/olive oil on skin/face...do you

find that it clogs your facial pores? I've been tempted to try it

instead of moisturizer but I'm afraid I'll break out. Or look too

greasy, lol.

Thanks to everyone for their response to my question.

I put the coconut oil on my face when it's time to go to sleep.

I like it a lot.

I have been buying soap at a place called Lush... they make natural

soap (and are unafraid to publish the actual ingredients in their

catalog and on their website, and will discuss each one of them with

you if you ask them nicely -- they have all sorts of forums for asking

questions of other users or of the company directly)

check out

www.lush.com

(if you have some problem clicking on US-- I did at first-- click on

Canada or UK)

You can have a catalog sent to you, or you can order directly from the

company on-line.

They have vegan products so-labeled in their catalog, which I think is

nice.

Judy,

I make my own soaps although at the moment I am not using organic

materials. I do not make a liquid soap at the moment tho I do know

the ingredients in them. The below Castile soap Sounds pretty good to

me. But since I am not an expert I asked someone I knew to be alot

more educated then I am in making soap. He is a friend of mine from

the Texas Soapmakers Association. I asked him what he thought of

these ingredients as I had never seen soap ingredients listed in this

manner. Below is what he said.

" There are basically two ways you can list your

ingredients for soap.

1) The list of ingredients BEFORE you mix everything

together (Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Lye, Water, etc.)

2) The list of what's actually in the soap AFTER

everything is mixed together - which is what this

person is doing. The " ate " suffix on the ingredient is

what the oil becomes after it's mixed with lye. Thus

Potassium Cocoate is coconut oil that has been

saponified with potassium hydroxide. I'm not sure

about the " pine/tallate " - if it's potassium

tallowate, (which is common) it's beef tallow. This

would be a liquid soap...right? If it was a bar soap,

it would be sodium tallowate - beef tallow mixed with

sodium hydroxide/lye. I don't know what the " pine " or

tallate would be. Perhaps some sort of pine tar - I've

heard of people making soap with pine tar.

Yes...if it's made correctly, the lye goes away. You

put oil, lye and water into the pot - the chemical

reaction leaves soap and glycerin.

Hope this helps...

David Fisher "

So to answer your question in regards to if the ingredients are ok

for the skin.. I would say yes..now that I know what exactly they

are..I had figured they were something more processed then real basic

oils. But from what David states it is the oil. Now mind you again it

would depend on how processed the oils were that were used and if

they were truely organic or not.. but just the simple oils showing I

would say they were fine. I am also hoping the glycerine is not an

added ingredient as this also has it's variables.. If the glycerin

mentioned is the overal byproduct of what soap " becomes " then it too

is very good for the skin. As glycerine is the natural byproduct of

soapmaking. Most corporate soaps now adays extract the glycerine and

add all kinds of other chemicals. Then sell the glycerine separate.

This soap that you have would be another step toward being more

natural and more healthy. If you talk to alot of people who follow

certain beliefs well we should only be using filtered water that has

been magnatized to get all the chemicals and metals out of the water.

They do have filters and magnets to do this.. and this is as close to

being natural these days as possible. Our skins are like sponges and

soap up so much crud. I have read of someone having tested their

shower water with those regular chlorine strips to test pools..

before they added the filter and the magnets... and then after the

the filter and magnets were added.. according to them there was a

tremendous difference in the results for the better.

I hope this has helped inform you and help you in making your inner

decisions. I tell you a great site I have learned alot from in

regards to health and more on a cellular level is

www.thebestdayever.com It is a paid site but please note that there

is so much information that is very worth knowing...so it is well

worth the money paid... I have no affiliation with the group or site

I just love the information...and being educated so completely.
