ok I have soem dehydrator questions:

I bought an excalibur (yeah--love it)

it didnt come with any teflex sheets...it only came with the mesh trays, so...

for doing crackers, chips or any " batter " type recipies...can I use wax paper to

line the sheets? Where can I get teflex---im not sure what it is

I have the plastic trays from my old dehydrator, one of the circular ones with

the hole in the center....and I used that to make corn chips the other

night...and it worked, but it took 24 hours.

So I am guessing these plastic sheets dont let the air move properly...

So what whould be the best, cheapest solution?

Thanks!

one I use from Cousen's " Rainbow Green Life Food Cuisine " :

1 C golden flax seeds, soaked

1/2 ripe avocado

Celtic salt to taste

Water for consistency

Blend ingredients in Vita-Mix or blender, adding water to create a smooth

batter. Spread 1/2 C batter evenly on Teflex sheets--to a thickness of about

1/4 " and 6 " in diameter. The thinner your batter, the less time it will take to

dehydrate. Dehydrate at 95 degrees for 2 - 3 hours, flip the tortillas over and

remove the Teflex sheet, and continue dehydrating 2 - 3 hours more until the

tortillas are soft and flexible. Remove the tortillas from the dehydrator

before they are crisp. Makes ten 6 " tortillas.

Sherry,

I don't own a dehydrator yet but I was on the Excalibur site recently and

you can order the teflex sheets from there.

I only have two teflex sheets. When I need more, I use parchment paper.

I think that things actually dry a little faster on it. Only problem is

you can't reuse it, or at least I haven't tried to reuse it.
