Maybe someone on here who has a new one can let us know. The company says that the vitamix will process small amounts of nuts, but I have never done it, because I have a little coffee mill that I have always used for reducing herbs to powder, and it is so easy to clean that I use it for anything less than 1/2 cup. According to the instructions I got with my VitaMix 6 years ago, it should be able to process nuts. Margaret
Guest guest
The L'equip can handle as little as 1/4 cup and turn it into a nice creamy " ranch " dressing. I wouldn't be able to do that in my coffee mill because I add water to it. I just simply like the L'equip better than my VitaMix. It is more versatile, easier to use, and easier to clean. I'm glad that everyone who has a VitaMix loves theirs. Guest guest
Yes, I have never any problems with grinding nuts etc. I have never done 1/2 a cup but I will try that tomorrow. Guest guest
Try 1/4 cup. The blades are set too high on mine to reach that low in the container. BTW, I have two containers--one with the spout and one without. I always used the spoutless one. Guest guest
I find mixing small amounts of anything is difficult with the vitamix. It seems to me that what you are mixing needs to well above the level of the blades. Leslie
Guest guest
I just tried it in the wheat container of the vitamix and it works beautiful. The blades are slightly different may be that is the difference. I will try it another time in the other container. I never use a 1/4 of a cup so I did not know if it could do the job. It is about 12 almonds. I use at least 1/2 a cup in my recepies. Anyway, I learned something today. Have a reat day. Guest guest
I'm glad it worked for you but it still doesn't in mine. I don't need it, anyway, with the other blender. Guest guest
Bless you, Leslie! I was feeling in the minority here, for sure. Guest guest
I have found that the new smaller container for the VitaMix can handle smaller jobs, but I doubt if it could do 1/4 cup. But I never do anything small!! Maybe if enough folks ask they'll come out with a mini VitaMix. Wouldn't that be great?! A traveling VM !!!! Guest guest
Uncooking for one can be expensive if I have to throw out the leftovers a week later. And I've been known to take my L'equip with me when I'm going to be gone for several days! Guest guest
i thought the vitamix was " powerful " ??....Well, even with all the different options, and advice from everyone, i'm so confused to buy a blender right now... jerushy1944 <no_reply > wrote: Bless you, Leslie! Guest guest
It IS powerful. It's more powerful than my L'equip but the blades are set too high to catch small amounts. If you only blend large amounts, that shouldn't be a problem.
