Guest guest
I am doing a little happy dance!! I just bought a champion juicer for $90 on eBay....... the vitamix I am bidding on ends soon, so hopefully I will have every thing I need (appliance wise) to continue on my raw journey! By the way, I have been raw for over a month now..... I think its actually 6 weeks. So even more cause for the happy dance. I hadn't made time to tell anyone about my attempt at flax crackers yet. It resulted in burning up my blender. Sorry the blender had to bite the big one, but now my darling hubby understands why it has to be a heavy duty blender. I think I am going to keep celebrating all the great news and go do an extra round of yoga today!! Leah New Messenger with Voice. Call regular phones from your PC and save big. Guest guest
Ebay is the way to go when it comes to appliances. I got a vitamix (older model) for $15, a cuisinart for $10, my dehydraytor for $40 - the list goes on. Also, here is a recipe for flax crackers where you use the seeds whole. I prefer them to crackers made with ground seeds. 1 cup whole flax seeds 1 1/2 cups water 3/8 cup celery juice (i often leave this out) 3 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice 4-5 cloves garlic (or to taste) celtic sea salt to taste (optional) Blend water and gralic in blender. Pour garlic water over the flax seeds, stir and let soak at room temperature for about 5 hours. You will have a gelatinous miture. Add celery and lemon juices into the mixture. Stir until thoroughly mixed. Scoop mixture onto teflex lined dehydrator tray and spread out to an approximate 1/8 " to 1/4 " uniform thickness. Using the back of a knife or a spatula slice lines through the mixture to make " perforations " so that you can break into crackers(squares)when they're dry. Don't worry about making space between the crackers - the mixture is wet and will fill the perforations after you make them. Repeat the slicing about an hour after you start dehydrating to make the perforations deeper. Dehydrate at 95 degrees for 24 hours or until dry. rawfood , Leah Morrison <l_morrison2002 wrote: > > I am doing a little happy dance!! Guest guest
Good deal! I got mine on eBay, too! If I'm addicted to anything, it's eBay. I always check there first when I'm in the market for something. Just a few days ago, I won an assortment of size 10 clothes and am able to fit into them! That beats the 16s and 18s I was wearing this time last year...The best part is I don't have to hang onto my " fat " clothes! Guest guest
I'm an Amazon shopper, too, in addition to eBay but, if you buy from an individual, you are still dependent on their shipping schedule. I've found that, if something is shipped with the free shipping available on purchases over $25 from Amazon directly, it is delivered about as quickly as if you pay the extra. What it boils right down to, I love shopping with my mouse! Beats finding parking places and fighting crowds hands down! I got my first shipment of raw olives and some more really raw cashews yesterday! And I've ordered some more raw food for my cat...
