Guest guest
Down here in the tropics, we can scoop fresh coconut oil rings out of sprouted living coconuts. (Not to mention, enjoy the coconut cake that replaces the water after it sprouts.) However, after using coconut oil straight from the sprouted coconut, every commercial coconut oil that I have sampled tastes rancid compared to the fresh living oil, (some much worse than others.) I have not been able to recommend any commercial coconut oils to my students who have fallen in with using the fresh oil here and want to use coconut oil at home. What brands of coconut oil commercially available in the states do people recommend? Tom
Guest guest
Hi Tom, I love the taste of Nutiva coconut oil. It is smooth, with no aftertaste and was recommended by the Tree of Life Cafe in Patagonia, AZ. I tried Tropical Traditions coconut oil and was sorely disappointed. It had a rancid, acrid aftertaste that I couldn't get past. I've also heard that from a couple of people about the coconut oil they sell on the Nature's First Law web site. Omega Nutrition sells an extra virgin coconut oil that tastes as good as the Nutiva coconut oil, but they don't say how it is processed. Nutiva's is cold-pressed (centrifuge) and not fermented. Guest guest
Personally I prefer coconut oil from Sri Lanka. I'm with you in what they taste like. I think I've tried oil from Hawaii, Mexico, the South Pacific, Fiji, India and Sri Lanka and I've liked the Sri Lankan the best. http://www.livecoconutoil.com/ Shari

Guest guest
Yep, it's great, and I ended up ordering a case! I eat it and moisturize with it. kristi On Apr 6, 2006, at 10:26 PM, SV wrote: > Thanks Kristi.
