The original essay by the doctor who coined the term " orthoexia

nervosa " is here>> http://www.orthorexia.com/index.php?page=essay. I

don't think he has it quite right but everyone is entitled to an

opinion. I don't think I would sit down and eat what he did and still

feel good--physically or mentally.

very good, entertaining writer. I'm going to save your post as well as

others' on this subject in order to support my debate when my older

family members attack me again. Congratulations on quitting smoking.

I have met people with ON through the raw food groups, mtgs that I

attend...People who are waaaay to thin, and cannot seem to discuss

anything other than their holier-than-though diet (Booooriing). I

try to eat raw as much as possible, but believe me, I concentrate on

living life first and foremost. If I go to a party, I'll bring a

dish and keep quiet about it if and 'till someone asks. With my

family: Passing on some of my mother's special dishes is akin to

hurting/attacking her. It's a motherly thing.

I'll be in ITaly this summer, and you'd better believe I'll be

eating pasta (mmm) and pizza and enjoying my red wine : )

To each his/her own! I've been craving salad all day. I'm going to

tank up when I get home. If I could, I'd go to Thailand and pig out

on tropical fruit!

As for mothers and their special dishes, sadly that isn't a problem

for me any more. My mother died at age 100 over a year ago.

I don't know about you but I don't think I would want to " overcome

eating healthy " and if I did I would be physically ill. I know

everyone is different and has her own opinion but for me, and I'm

sure most of us here, raw food is good food and that even the " nay-

sayers " can benefit from it. I have made and shared some of the

most delicous foods with people who can't belive raw food could be

so tasty.

When I first saw Dr. Bratman's book I thought it was a joke.
