Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I am new to your group as of a few days ago and hope to learn a lot from you all. I am very intrigued by the raw foods eating and have ordered two books from Amazon so that I can learn more. What I am wondering about right now is dehydrators. Is there any benefit to a more expensive model? I see they come in all prices and until I learn what the heck I need one for and how much I will use it, can a less expensive one suffice? Thanks in advance, and glad to be here among other health conscious people Donna Anne
Guest guest
Donna - congratulations on reading about eating Raw - that is the first great step! I bought my dehydrator (the Excalibur from rawguru.com) I wanted a brand new one and found that they have the cheapest price - will ship for free and also included the 9 TeFlex sheets that save you over $81.00!! Check their website and others and you'll see they are the best. I also started blogging what we ate when our family of 5 started this jouney eating raw. You might want to check that out for some ideas too. mawintheraw.blogspot.com Keep reading - it will be your greatest asset right now - and good luck with your new journey! It is so rewarding and so much fun! Happy eating. Guest guest
Hello, Donna Anne! I have one of the less expensive ones and it does me just fine since I use it maybe once a month at the most. I'm not into making a lot of recipes since I go about my meals in a much simpler way than a lot of people do. If you check out http://www. howtogoraw.com, you'll find a great deal of help there. Roger uses a blender, a knife, and a cutting board to make all of his meals. Me, I don't even use the cutting board. I have all of the equipment that you'd think you need--dehydrator, Champion juicer, food processor, and blender but the only thing I use daily is the blender. Guest guest
HI Tommie, I have a feeling that the simpler the better for me. I do have a blender and think that a lot of smoothies are suited to me and my tastes, as well as lots of fruit which requires almost no gadgetry. I can't see myself making a lot of fancy uncooked recipes just for myself, as it is so much easier to just grab a fruit, salad or smoothie. I may wait on a dehydrator I think.....just to make sure I am well into raw eating before I make a BIG financial purchase. Donna Anne <<<<Hello, Donna Anne! Guest guest
You may just find that you don't need anything else at all, once you get established in your routine. You're smart to wait!
