Guest guest
Would any of you advanced raw foodies like to share a mock day in your raw food life? I would love to try and do a " whole day " , as currently I have simply been incorporating more raw foods. I think if I could just start with one day, it might kick me into gear and get me more on my way. I don't have a vita-mix or a dehydrator, but still think I could manage. Does anyone want to share a good menu with me? Nothing fancy, just something that is made with basic ingredients, filling and doesn't leave me craving cooked food. It would also be fun for my family (2 girls and husband). They are always up for something new. Thanks, Tiffany
Guest guest
Hi, Tiffany. I already posted a breakfast menu so I'll continue on through the day. Mid-morning, I'll have some fruit. My favorite is watermelon when it's in season. I usually chunk it up and fill a quart bag with it. I eat it alone. Lunch will be another green smoothie (again a quart) plus either more fruit (mango, berries, whatever) and maybe some cucumber and tomatoes. I like celery, too, and it combines well with anything. I've gotten hung up on tomatoes in the afternoon when I get home. I'll peel at least three and chop them with chili powder or a little sea salt. Eat them slowly and savor every bite! After that, I make a truly huge salad in a three quart mixing bowl. Yesterday, it was romaine, cucumber, broccoli sprouts, green onion, and avocado, dressed with lime juice, onion and garlic powder, agave nectar, and EVOO. I don't often have the EVOO because it's a fractured food but I do it once in awhile for a treat. The only appliance I find absolutely necessary is my L'equip blender. It doesn't cost nearly as much as a VitaMix and it does everything I need it to. I got mine on eBay for $70 including shipping. Anything else besides blending I can fix with a knife. I seldom dehydrate. So seldom I could get along without it if I had to. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Friday - April 28: 3:30 a.m. out of bed at 3:45 - 4:45 meditation from 5:00 - 6:00 walk the dog with another girl and her beagle shower, prepare, and leave for work at the local high school (I assist in the Home Ec department) 7:00 starts work 8:20 ate a peeled grapefruit (how you eat an orange) 10:30 or so I had a couple bananas and 20 soaked almonds (yes, I count them or I would overeat) 5:30 p.m. had a bowl of romaine and dandelion greens with 1/2 an avocado 6:30 had a couple of mangos That's a typical workday. Sometimes I take a green smoothie (dandelion greens and blueberry is my current favorite) and sip on it all day. My job keeps me moving all the time so I don't get a lot of down time and when I do have my lunch break I've usually got my nose stuck in a book and I try not to do two things at once while I eat. The weekends I usually eat more and it's mostly all fruit. Mangos are in season and the small yellow ones are my favs. I think they're called Manilas or Atlufos. Watermelon season finds me eating only watermelon some days. Or all tomatoes or just grazing in my garden which is 5 different types of lettuce and dinosaur kale. Those are about the only greens I eat the are cultivated. No one touches the dandelions in our yard and we don't spray so I eat the leaves! Guest guest
I wouldn't say I'm 'advanced' but I do have a couple of typical days I can share with you! breakfast either a green smoothie w/ mango, frozen banana, orange and spinach or red pears, frozen raspberries, and red kale or a 'cereal' of sliced bananas, chopped walnuts, chopped apples, and a drizzle of honey/agave Lunch Big salad w/ whatever I have in my kitchen or grapefruit and cucumber salad with a dash of salt or stuffed red bell peppers either stuffed with a sunflower seed and basil pate and sprouts or guacamole Dinner I don't do much for dinner anymore. When I started I'd do all sorts of recipies like chili and corn chowder and mock meatloaf and such. Now I either do a smoothie, juice, or just some whole fruits or veggies. If I'm going to dance class that night I'll do a young coconut smoothie for the energy boost. That's about it!
