Guest guest
I have just purchased a rather interesting book, called Raw Foods Bible. In it the author has his say on a number of food/nutrition issues, and, then, finally, there are recipes. The recipes are interesting, which is why I bought the book. I might, indeed, try some of them. Most, if not all, of the recipes seem to have been cadged from other sources. The interesting thing here is that the author lists his sources/websites, so that you can go to the original source and possibly even find more recipes that you like. While the book has an ISBN, it looks to be a self-published book, which may or may not be available in your local store. I could not find it on Amazon.com, and, although the book lists an email address (RawFoodsBible) www.rawfoods.com does not list this book. It is published by Guru Beant Press, a division of You Can Do It Publications, if that helps. As a self-publisher, if I could mention on word of advice tto the author it would be that he should make it easier to order his book, either by having a website or by including an order form in his book. Guest guest
I am so brand new, it's pathetic . . . I was wondering, how do you eat beans raw? I always liked to cook them for hours and make lentil soup or navy bean soup, etc. This is such a basic 101 question to most of you, but I was just wondering. .. . Also, here's my situation . . . I eat terribly and have always, tho, knowing deep down that fresh fruits and veggies were the way I was supposed to be going. But in rebellion and gluttony I am where I am now. I grew up with a father who sold " Hostess " cupcakes and twinkies and was " Twinkie the Kid! " (smile) Imagine being King Ding Dong for Halloween! Now I am a " ding dong " because I weigh almost 280 and I am no energy . . my back hurts, my knee hurts and I think I might have an ulcer. I have seven children to take care of and if I die early (I'm 45) I have selfishly eaten myself into the grave and they are left without a mother. I need to walk away and live the way God intends and train my children the same way. I have abused food and now it is abusing me. . . . It's not even real food! It's processed crap like donuts and cheese and pop . . . the only thing " raw " I eat are " raw " hot dogs! (UGH!) If any of you could please help (and not judge) I WOULD REALLY LISTEN and you would have helped pulled one out of the " fire! " Holly Newbie in Chicagoland Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
Holly, bless you for bringing in more healthy food. Bless you for caring enough about yourself and your family to make a positive change in your life. Many times, we get sucked into being a sugar addict and carbo addict. But, you are correct, our body really does know that it requires fruit and vegetables to be healthy. There are some wonderful websites with fun recipes that will make your transition easier. Check out the file section of this site. The way I began my transition was to ADD food to my diet. I added a smoothie to my morning and a fresh salad with fun things like sprouts and different fruits to my lunch. As far as beans go, they are usually soaked for ever and sprouted in order to be eaten raw. You may want to peruse the files for suggestions on that. I see your letter as a cry for help. Know that you are strong. Know that this is a choice. Know that if you " fall off the wagon " that it is not a bad thing, but that you have the choice to choose wiser next time. Be easy on yourself. Know that you are a blessing. Melody rawfood , Holly Funk <dancewarrioradoration wrote: > > I am so brand new, it's pathetic . . .

Guest guest
Holly: Hello, and welcome! I am going to reply to your first question first: How do you eat beans raw? Well, first you find out which ones you can sprout (peas, mung beans, and lentils are all easy to sprout. My real favorites are the lentils because they are so easy to sprout, and they taste good even just by the handful.) You mentioned a concern over your weight, health concerns, and your consumption of junk food. If I could recommend one thing to you for starters, I would suggest that you eliminate any and all forms of sugar from your diet. After that, eliminate any and all forms of starch from you diet. If you are interested in a raw food diet, then, while you are doing step one and step two, eat a lot of salads. Incorporate bean and seed sprouts in your salads. Make your children eat what you are eating. (Maybe Judy will chime in with how she got her large family on raw food) The first two steps I have mentioned are the most difficult, but they can be done. I know. I did it. (I used to weigh 235 lbs. I don't know what I weigh right now, but I had to trade in my size 18s for size 2s (I am 5'9 " tall) Margaret rawfood , Holly Funk <dancewarrioradoration wrote: > > I am so brand new, it's pathetic . . .
