Hi Terri,

I know how you feel. I live in Connecticut in a fairy large city and there is no

such fruit anywhere that I can find.

All I can find are the hairy brown ones and green ones, which I actually bought

today because I REALLY

want to try a fresh coconut. I have a hatchet all ready to aim at it...LOL....I

have no idea what I am doing!

My Trader Joes doesn't carry any such thing as Thai coconuts- so I doubt any of

them do.

No Whole Foods here either.

Good luck in your search,

Donna Anne

<<<I live in Albany NY and desperately need to find a place for thai

coconuts. It seems that the only way to get them is via mail order,

and that is so expensive it is ridiculous.

Does anyone out there have the same plight? And if so, how are you

dealing with it? We don't have a Whole Foods, we don't have a Trader

Joe's....you would never think we are the Capital of NY State! I am

seriously inspired to open a store/restaurant up here out of my

desperation.>>>>>>>>>

Hi, Donna Anne!

Doesn't it crack you up? We are so near to NYC and yet we may as

well be out in a dessert!

I tried the green coconuts, too. I took the water from them and

tried to scrape out the meat, but I was nervous about it, so I never

ended up using it. Even those can be hard to find here, too.

I have been doing raw since December 2005, and lived without them,

so I guess we can make it through! :) But, there is a website that

sells 9 Thai Coconuts for about $50 with shipping and such. I am

getting very tempted to try it! I believe it is youngcoconuts.com.

Good luck!

Relative to NYC I live practically in the middle of nowhere, ie central

MI, and am able to find Asian groceries that carry Thai coconuts at $15

for 9. Call the Asian groceries in NYC. I am sure that some of them

will carry these. My store gets them in once a week and requests that I

let them know ahead of time if I am going to buy a whole case as that

is all they get in each week since they have a refrigerator life of

only about two weeks.

The Union Square Whole Foods had them when I was there a year ago. I

got one at Wal*Mart in Orlando in the fall. Those are the only two

I've ever had the privilege to try. ;)

Oh cool - I was going to head down to union square after work tomorrow

anyhow! I'm fasting right now, but a coconut will be great at some

point next week :)

Try calling the Asian grocers and asking if they can order them for

you. I have a friend in NH who does that. I you can't use the whole

case you can freeze the meat and water. You lose a little energy but

still it is better than not having them.
