Guest guest
My father has been a laten diabetic for 20 years and 3 month ago was put on insulin... his reading are fluctuating all over the map from 3 to 30... he is following a doctor supplied diet that requires him to eat certain amounts of carbs sugars and protein... I am wondering if anyone here has found that eating certain raw foods would regulate his blood sugars better. thanks for all your help. Guest guest
My Mother is diabetic--not as sick as your Dad from the sound of things, though, sorry to hear that he is so ill. She came to stay with me in January and I got her into trying more raw foods. I made the recipes that kind of mirror her favorites. (She is an old Italian Momma, so you can imagine what her diet usually consists of!) She really seemed to like the way she felt after a week with me, so she broght some of the the recipes and ideas back home. While she followed a mostly raw diet, her numbers were very good. In fact, her doc asked her what she was doing to keep things so regulated! There was no magic combination of things that she ate--she just tried to keep the food as close to nature as possible and uses raw versions of her favorites when she craves them or needs to. I don't know if adopting that way of eating will help your Dad or if it will hurt him, but it is a thought. Best of luck to you and your family... Guest guest
For information of effects of raw diet on diabetes go to www.treeoflife.nu. They have had some fantastic results with diabetics. One of the secrets is watching the glycemic index of the raw foods one is eating. They have shown that very severe diabetics can go off of insulin with a raw diet.
