Guest guest Posted June 10, 2002 Report Share Posted June 10, 2002 * Exported from MasterCook * Split Pea Soup (McDougall) Recipe By : The McDougall Program, John and Mary McDougall, page 211 Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Beans And Legumes Soups And Stews Vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 cups water 1/2 cup dry split green peas 1/4 cup dry lima beans 1/8 cup uncooked barley 1 yellow onion -- chopped 1 bay leaf 1/2 teaspoon celery seed 1 scrubbed carrot -- chopped 1 stalk celery -- chopped 1 white scrubbed potato -- chopped 1/4 teaspoon paprika 1 tablespoon parsley flakes OR 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley 1/2 teaspoon dried basil 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 dash ground white pepper SERVINGS: 4. PREPARATION TIME: 15 minutes. COOKING TIME: 2 1/2 hours. Place the water in a large soup pot. Add the peas, limas, barley, onion, bay leaf, and celery seed and cook for 1 1/2 hours.
