Guest guest Posted June 20, 2002 Report Share Posted June 20, 2002 * Exported from MasterCook * Tomatillo Salsa Recipe By : Southern Living Magazine, May 2002, page 168 Serving Size : 5 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Grilling Sauces And Marinades Vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 10 fresh tomatillos -- husks removed 3 medium tomatoes 1 jalapeno chile pepper 1/2 medium-size red onion -- sliced 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro 1 clove garlic 2 tablespoons lime juice 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin MAKES ABOUT 5 CUPS This fresh mixture is great for eating with tortilla chips. GRILL first 4 ingredients, covered with grill lid, over high heat (400ø to 500ø) 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until tomatoes look blistered and onion is tender. Cool 10 minutes. Discard jalapeno seeds, if desired. PULSE grilled tomatillo mixture and remaining ingredients in a blender or food processor 6 times or until mixture is coarsely chopped, stopping to scrape down sides. Cover salsa, and chill at least 2 hours. Serve with tortilla chips.
