A friend of mine asked if I had a recipe for this, and I don't. I did a

web search, and could only find recipes for cookies, cakes, muffins, and

places to *order* snickerdoodle coffee and/or hot chocolate mixes, but

NO recipe for making it yourself.

Does anyone have such a recipe?

Thanks!

This is a tried and true cookie. But I have not made it for a long, long time.

Snickerdoodles

Recipe By : Betty Crocker's Cooky Book, 1963

Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00

Categories : Cookies And Bars

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

1 cup shortening

(part butter or margarine)

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 eggs

2 3/4 cups Gold Medal Flour

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

The recipe for this delicious " family cooky " came to us from Mrs. Ronald

Anfinson, Benson, Minnesota.

Heat oven to 400F (mod. hot). Mix shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and eggs

thoroughly. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Blend flour,

cream of tartar, soda, and salt; stir in. Shape dough in 1 " balls. Roll

in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon. Place 2 " apart on

ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. These cookies puff up at

first, then flatten out. Makes 6 dozen cookies.

NOTE: If you use Gold Medal Self-Rising Flour, omit cream of tartar, soda,

and salt.
