Guest guest Posted July 17, 2002 Report Share Posted July 17, 2002 i've not deep fried in a long while -- what attracted me to this recipe was the serving ideas. forget dessert. add a salad, naan, and the other " desserts " * Exported from MasterCook * Lentil Fritters Recipe By :Lentil Cookbook by Lee Mac Morris 1974 Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Beans Desserts Vegetarian Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 cups cooked lentils -- drained 1/2 cup walnut pieces 1/3 cup grated onion 1/3 cup grated carrot 1 egg -- lightly beaten 1/4 teaspoon marjoram oil for deep frying confectioner's sugar Run the lentils, walnuts, onions and carrots through coarse grid of a food mill. Thoroughly blend in the egg and marjoram. Form into compact balls about an inch in diameter. Heat oil to 370F. Lower lentils into fat, a few at a time, and fry until well browned, drain on paper towels, and while hot dust with sugar. Serve hot.
