Guest guest
Wonderful dish. I love cauliflower made this way. (I usually steam or boil and pour on cheese sauce. Very fattening.) But this recipe is so easy, so healthy, the taste is just perfect and there is almost no fat. You can use half broccoli, too. Has an Asian taste. Yummmmmmy! Brenda * Exported from MasterCook * Thai Sweet-Garlicky Cauliflower with Red Pepper Strips Recipe By :The Passionate Vegetarian by Crescent Dragonwagon Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Cauliflower Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 tablespoon mild vegetable oil -- such as corn, canola - or peanut 1 tablespoon garlic -- coarsely chopped 1/2 medium cauliflower -- cut into florets 2 tablespoons water 1/2 small onion -- sliced vertically into crescents 1/2 red bell pepper -- cut into thin strips 1/2 yellow bell pepper -- cut into thin strips 3 tablespoons tamari soy sauce -- or shoyu soy sauce 2 tablespoons sugar salt to taste Heat the oil in wok or deep skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot enough to immediately set a chunk of garlic sizzling, it's ready. Drop in all of the garlic and stir-fry until barely golden, about 15 seconds. Add the cauliflower. Add the water and cover. Steam for 30 seconds, then uncover and allow the water to evaporate without stirring. When the pan is almost dry and the cauliflower is tender, add the onion, bell pepper, tamari, and sugar. Toss to combine well. Taste, and if necessary, add salt. Serve hot. Serves 4 to 6. Kitchen tested and typed for you by Brenda Adams, 12/02. Wonderful! Crunchy onions and peppers with nicely cooked cauliflower in a soy sauce/sugar/garlic sauce that is not thickened. I loved this simple and easy dish. I didn't have a yellow bell pepper...so I used green along with the red. " Recipe works well with half broccoli and half cauliflower.
