Recipe By :Marilyn Donati, co-owner of Canaan Farm in Wenham, MA

Serving Size : 12 Preparation Time :0:00

Categories : New Import

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

2 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup cold sweet butter -- (1 stick)

1 cup white pumpkin puree

(such as lumina or baby boo pumpkin)

1/2 cup milk

1 cup raisins

1. Preheat the oven to 400F.

2. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in

a large bowl. Cut in the butter until it resembles peas.

3. In a small bowl, blend together the pumpkin puree and milk. Add to the flour

mixture, along with the raisins. Stir until the mixture just comes together

(overmixing will create tough scones).

4. Using a 1/4-cup measure, drop the dough onto a parchment-lined or

well-greased baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the scones are

puffed and golden and a toothpick inserted into the center of one comes out

clean.

Makes about 1 dozen.
