Guest guest
sorry - i tried to send this directly but it bounced back - Peter Long & /or Tara Treanor lilystargoddess January 28, 2003 10:02 AM Re: Re: Newbie. hi ... wow - you should be quite proud of yourself! vegan at 16 will serve you very well in later years i think (wish i'd thought of it then!) my best advice is to get your hands on a good vegan cookbook and don't be intimidated by all the " homemade " mayos, cheezes etc ... you can make a lot of great dinners without any of those things - we were a vegetarian family but we discovered my daughter is allergic to the protein in milk (in every dairy product) about 3 years ago, so that ruled out all the veg recipes that use cheese (and there are many! a lot of vegetarians use it for flavour i think) which made most of my cookbooks useless! 'how it all vegan' is pretty good and the same authors have another book out that i've yet to buy - i usually make some stuff on sunday that keeps for the week and is ready at hand for sandwiches / lunches -- hummus, vege pate, different bean spreads, sauteed veggies - that kind of thing, so it's already there and you can just stuff it in a pita or whatever ... unless you are prepared to spend a fortune at the health food store, you will probably be cooking most stuff from scratch since the majority of 'prepared' food has some form of animal in it (it's amazing where they'll put dairy by-products just to get rid of them!) and this is one way of having it not be a huge production every day there are vegan lists on as well (for all i know you've signed up to them!) but the ones i'm on are quiet best wishes and if you have any particular recipes you're looking for, don't hesitate to ask! tara in chilly canada - Jessa <lilystargoddess Veg-Recipes January 27, 2003 10:13 PM Re: Newbie. Hey! I'm Jessica and an " aspiring " Vegan. I've been Vegan about...two days! Hehe. If anyone can give me any good recipes for a new, budding Vegan, it'd be much appreciated! I'm 16, and still living at home, so...I've gotta adapt to my parents being around while I'm cooking. Just thought I'd tell you guys that to keep it in mind while giving me recipes. I've mostly been eating Vegan burgers. Hehehe. It's getting old. =] Thanks!
