The avocado should " give " slightly, to be most flavorful. Although avocados are high in fat (about 75 percent of their calories), they are very nutritious and can be included in a sensible diet occasionally. To put it in perspective, a little over half of an avocado has less fat than an equal weight in lean ground beef, less than 1 cup of potato salad with mayonnaise or a green salad with 2 tablespoons of regular Italian dressing.
