Guest guest
In an effort to rid my home of toxic chemicals, I have recently started making my own personal care items and household cleaning products. I would like to share my recipes with you. Also, here is a link to a website that has dozens of free recipes: :http://www.soapdelicatessen.com/siteMapView HOMEMADE BODY POWDER: 2 CUPS CORNSTARCH 5 DROPS ESSENTIAL OIL (I used lavender) shake together in ziplock bag, shaking periodically for a few hours. I emptied out a commercial body powder container and poured it in to that to store. (I was shocked at the list of ingredients on the commercial powder)!! HOMEMADE MOUTHWASH 2 CUPS QUALITY WATER 5 DROPS PEPPERMINT OIL 2 TBS LIQUID CHLOROPHYLL 1 TBS BAKING SODA 1 DROP VEG GLYCERINE 1/2 TSP VODKA (AS PRESERVATIVE-if you want to eliminate this, make a little at a time so it won't go bad) HOMEMADE BREATH SPRAY 1/2 CUP QUALITY WATER 2 DROPS PEPPERMINT OIL 5 DROPS VODKA AS PRESERVATIVE (just make less at a time if you want to avoid this) Store in small spray container or bottle. HOMEMADE HAIR GEL/MOUSSE 1 TBS PLAIN GELETIN 1 CUP WARM WATER Disolve geletin in warm water. Store in fridge, use same as commercial product-works great! HOMEMADE HOUSEHOLD CLEANER 1 1/2 CUPS WATER 1/2 CUP WHITE VINEGAR 1/4 CUP BORAX 10 DROPS FAVORITE ESSENTIAL OIL (I USED LEMON OIL) Again, I just emptied a commercial spray bottle, rinsed it really well, and poured this in. Works and smells great. Tonight, I am going to make lip gloss and shampoo and conditioner. I will post recipes if they turn out okay. I buy travel kits at my dollar store to keep my little potions in. My daughter and I are having a lot of fun with this. And its cheap! Guest guest
Thanks, Brenda, these are great! I wonder if we could replace the gelatin in the mousse with something vegan. Guest guest
Interesting, Brenda! When I was in high school, one of the girls used sugar water on her hair. It always seemed to me that it would be gummy. Guest guest
Thanks, Brenda: When I get a chance, I will put those on the list website in the Natural Home & Body Care folder (where anyone can add such files, and everyone can access them) There are already a number of useful files there. Guest guest
Thanks Brenda, I find the more I stay with a healthy lifestyle, the more I too have rid my house of all the toxic chemicals. It's amazing how clean you can get things without all those harsh chemicals. I'm still doing my laundry now with salt and vinegar (that someone recommended a while back) and my clothes have never been so soft, clean and fresh. Thanks for the website and the recipes.
