Guest guest
Hi Louise - Thanks for the email. I would suggest the flax crackers because they are so satisfying if you still have a " bread " or carbohydrate craving. They are the easiest to make also and you can add any vegetable or any spice you want. I'll just give you something quick that we like. Start small - then you can make more later. Use 1 cup flax seed and 2 cups of water - let them soak during the day. You will know if they are ready for crackers if the water is absorbed and it looks rather slimy. Now grind about 1/4 cup of flax seeds to make " ground flax " . Add it to the slimy mixture. Chop up a red bell pepper and add a whole bunch of cilantro that is finely chopped. ( I chop the cilantro in my little blender with water then drain in a strainer) Stir in about 1/8 c of Braggs Aminos. You can take a quick taste of the mixture to see if you need more Braggs. You want it to have flavor - but not too strong - so just " guess-ta-mate " Now stir it all up and spread it on your TFlex sheet - I use a spatula to spread it. I use 3 full cups of " goo " per sheet - we like them " not too thin " but you can practice the thickness later. This recipe I am giving you might be just enough to make one sheet. Now dehydrate it on 105 degrees for about 5 hours - or less. You HAVE to pull the tray out and flip over the Tflex to expose the " other side " . It will be wet. Take off the TFlex sheet and let it finish drying until " it's done. " (if you don't do this step - it will spoil and you will have to throw it out) When I take the TFlex sheet off - I use a pizza cutter to score little squares. I don't cut the lines all the way through - just enough to quickly score it and put it back in the dehydrator. You will be able to tell when they are finished. Carefully pry them into squares where you have cut them. They satisfy my families urge for bread or crackers. We eat them almost everyday. Usually at dinner with salads or just as a quick snack out the door. The ground flax offers an excellent source of Omega 3 oils. Hope this works for you.
