Guest guest
Hi Jacky - the rolled oats I buy are at Sprouts in bulk - they are especially not the " quick " kind. Even though they are not raw - when you are making the transition into eating raw they are a better choice cookie than anything " out there " . They are a " healthy " choice if you have the need for cookies - and we did. But once you make the transition to raw and move towards eating 100% raw then you will see that the need for the " extra " fluff - like chocolate, cookies, granola and the such don't exist in your diet anymore because your body doesn't crave it anymore. I didn't know that we wouldn't want them anymore - I thought it would always be a part of our new way of living - but nope. We never make them anymore and never make granola or the such. My brain and body says to put the " necessities " inside my body to provide REAL nournishment - and it doesn't come from those sweets. So - make them if they sound good to you - you'll love them. One day - you won't need them either.....but in the meantime - you will be controlling what you put in them and that is what mattered to me. Have a super happy day. Guest guest
Yea! Judy! You are finding out what it's all about! Simple is better!! I'm really impressed! It's when you pass the point of having to have all the concoctions that you are less prone to " fall off the wagon " . Guest guest
Tommie - " you got that right! " Simple IS better - but sometimes it takes a cookie or two to " get there! " . Guest guest
Thanks!!! I'm not total raw yet but have been eating mostly salad type things and was looking to " expand " my choices. - Jacky
Guest guest
If you want raw version of oats, it's called as 'Oat Groats'. Some online stores sell them. They are not heat/steam treated. Cheers, - Hemant. Jacky Schmitt <J.Schmitt wrote: Thanks!!! Guest guest
You can get oat groats at Sprouts stores and Trader Joes too. I've even seen them in packages at other grocery stores. I just think the cookies are better though with the rolled oats. Guest guest
I didn't know Trader Joes carries it. Thank you for sharing the info. As far as cookies are concerned, you are probably right as I don't know a thing about making cookies! :-) - Hemant.
