Guest guest
Hi Elaine, NYC is a paradise for raw foodies! Here are a few of my favorite places: Quintessence restaurant on East 10th Street between First Ave. and Avenue A. Live-Live store right next to it Bonobo's (restaurant) on 23d Street at Madison Pure Food and Wine on Irving Place between 17th and 18th Streets (make sure to ask about ingredients to make sure that what you order is all-raw, as they use some non-raw ingredients here as well) Blue-Green Cafe--several Manhattan locations plus one in The Plant in Brooklyn (Ask about the ingredients here as they use some non-raw ones) Westerly Market on Eighth Avenue at 54th Street (They have a lot of raw takeout food) I really miss NY. I lived there for a long time and now live in Sarasota, FL where there are no raw food restaurants and not even a cooked vegetarian one (although I don't eat cooked veg). Wishing someone would open one soon, as I have to ake all my own recipes. I love to, but it's nice to get to go out sometimes too. Guest guest
I've been doing that for the 3 1/2 years I've lived here. Via a food column I write for a local holistic magazine that I used to be the editor of. There are people who want one, and people who want to open one, and out-of-town raw restaurateurs who are available as consultants The missing part is an investor. (I did hear about a man who wants to open one, but in a run-down town nowhere near here that's a bad location.) In a message dated 7/16/2006 12:52:43 P.M. Guest guest
People who considered opening raw restaurants here in the last few years said the population here isn't large enough. I can't refute that, as I'm not an economist or number crunchers type. And I see that we lack certain large chain stores in Sarasota that larger areas have, like J. Crew. So it does seem to be a population density thing. perhaps you'll get one soon. The phenomena is really growing..... vegwriter wrote: I've been doing that for the 3 1/2 years I've lived here.
