Of course I would never want to toxify my milk. I know a lot of people have had success with the cleanse and I merely wanted to know if it would be safe for my baby. Obviously from your response you believe it would be harmful. I would never want to jeopardize my child's health, so I will not do the cleanse. Thank you for your insight. > Has anyone used agave and lemon vs the maple and lemon in this cleasne, and if so, what was their feedback on it? I've done the maple_syrup and lemon juice version and upon looking at the sugar content of the maple syrup, wondered if I was living off of the sugar of the maple syrup or... So, I wonder if agave would keep one going for ten days or not. TIA -- " If you turn your headlights on while going the speed of light, does anything happen? Guest guest
Hi Bill... it's been several years since I did any of these cleanses.... and at the time, I did do an analysis of the calories being consumed; yes, the high percentage of the calories are coming from the maple syrup. I've never tried the agave...and I think, more to the point, the learning that I've had over the last several years is that the " flushes/cleanses " are never doing what they purport to be doing. A nice analogy I heard recently was comparing it to throwing either sand or lemon juice in your eyes, and then commenting on how they caused so much mucus to be excreted from the eyes. When in reality, what we've done is to irritate the eyes, and the body continues, as it always does, to use mucus to transport contaminants from the body. In the Master Cleanse the " irritating " ingredient is cayenne pepper, if I recall the formula correctly (1 qt.water, 1 Tbls.maple syrup, and either 1/8 or 1/4 tsp. of cayenne....). We can easily see what this is doing to us by leaving out the water, and the maple syrup, and just " eat " the cayenne. (I used to even go to the extreme of making sure I had really " fresh " cayenne - ordered it from some place special...) Once we've " eaten " just the cayenne, we can monitor what our body has to say to us about that substance - I used to be able to tolerate the 1/4tsp. cayenne, these days I doubt I could stand a tiny fraction of that, without some violent reaction - massive hiccups, massive burning of the esophageal tract, burning in the stomcah, etc...etc.. This formula knows full well, that it includes enough " sweet " , in the form of maple syrup, to help get the cayenne past our senses. I don't remember the length of time exactly, and I'd say in the neighborhood of 20 - 30 days, that I've used it exclusively. It *never* lead me toward Health. I've had much better experiences learning about, and working with, various essential elements of Health -- several of which Elchanan mentioned in one of his most recent posts: Rest, Fresh Air, WAter, and a diet of whole, fresh, ripe, raw, organic plant and vegys. I've found that my body, and my health, respond much better to these elements than they ever did to any flushes/cleanses. Hope this is useful. best, Bob rawfood , Bill Schoolcraft <Bill wrote: > > At Tue, 18 Jul 2006 it looks like Amanda Feagin composed: > > > " Only do it if you wish to toxify the milk. As a matter of fact, just typing the above makes me want another slice now -- " If you turn your headlights on while going the speed of light, does anything happen?
