Guest guest
Hi there, Yes, this is a standard cleansing symptom, and the best course is to let it run its course. Your body is simply completing something that was blocked in the past. The body produces mucus to wrap and transport material that would otherwise harm the interior of the body. A saline solution is the LAST things you need, as the salt is terribly caustic. It will stop the production of mucus, but it literally burns the lining to accomplish this. Don't put salt (NaCl) into your body, ever. The large mammals, as a group, have no capacity to digest or otherwise metabolize salt. It is caustic, it demolishes the taste buds (though they can later heal). It increases the weight (as on a scale) of any water-based substance into which the salt is added, altering the thermal and other properties as well. Trust your body, skip the salt, have patience, it will " run " its course (rather literally, in this case). But it may run for some time, depending upon your history, which we don't know here. Hello all, I have been raw now for almost 2 weeks (about 11 days). I felt great until about 5 days ago. My kids had both had slight colds and I started feeling a little snuffy. Now I feel really awful. I have a low fever and this awful gunk coming out of my nose (which usually never happens no matter how sick I get). I have read about people having detox symptoms after going raw. Has anyone had anything like this? I'm wondering if I need to go to the doctor because the usual saline solution up the nose and gargling with salt water don't seem to have any effect. If it might be detox I'll wait a few more days. Thanks for any input. Tammy
Guest guest
Hi Tammy, Yes, your body is detoxing. Going to the doctor will just slow down your healing progress. A fever is just burning up the toxins in your body. I'm sure there are some essential oils that could help your nose. Eucalyptus is one that comes to mind, in addition to drinking lots of pure water. More sleep is also helpful, as our bodies do lots of healing work while we sleep. Stay away from any dairy products(raw or not), try some green lemonaid and a lot of water to help it pass faster. Green Lemonaid: juice from a lemon or 2. a cup or 2 of dark green leafy veggies(collards, kale, romain letuce) a banana and an apple a cup of water and blend up in your blender on high great breakfast drink. Also try a facial steamer to help break up the mucus in your nose. marybeth
