I also was thinking that I should finish the weekend because I said I would, but that made me realize that agreeing to do this sort of challenge or any other artificial, mental construct of what, how much and when to eat is not necessarily a good thing for me because it takes me away from listening to my body. _____ Greetings Kim I love all that you wrote, and particularly this excerpt! Some on this list may find it of interest to explore the work of Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, originator of Nonviolent Communication. Upon completing his doctoral work in psychology decades ago, Marshall came to realize that the entire model of " therapy " is flawed. Why? It is predicated upon the idea of detachment, that the therapist maintains a " safe " distance from the " patient " to avoid " excessive transference " and other such, well, nonsense in my opinion. Instead, Marshall felt that the most effective " therapy " would be a process during which the 'therapist " endeavored to establish a genuine connection with the " patient " or " client " . Absolutely wonderful material, for those who may be interested. I mention al this, because one point Marshall makes is that no future commitment can ever be held as absolutely binding. This is so, simply because one cannot predict with certainty what conditions may exist in the future. Interestingly, though he does not come from this place at all, what Marshall teaches WRT this point matches perfectly with some of the originating work in quantum physics, originally published during the 1920s by Werner Heisenberg and others. These physicists formulated mathematical proofs that there can never be certainty, only uncertainty. The Universe is probabilistic in nature. Unfortunately, most of modern science, and including biology, medicine, and Natural Hygiene, by the way, have not internalized this absolutely fundamental paradigm shift. For the most part, scientists and teachers of health still operate, unknowingly for the most part, in the older Newtonian paradigm of determinism, that cause-and-effect is static in nature. But this belief is just plain incorrect, and its continued widespread acceptance and application help to explain at least of portion of the erroneous thinking in the world today about many, many things. Best to all, Elchanan ..
