Now I have another question. Quite a few responses were suggestions to get a good set of knives and not to worry about equipment. So what I would like to know is, does this mean that the majority of recipes are basically raw cut fruits and vegetables? Thanks for your input again. Jennifer _____ Hi Jen, It means that most of the recipes are overly stimulating and actually contribute to cravings. Many here, and many RFs in general who have been at it for years, have learned to simplify considerably. Elchanan
Guest guest
You don't need a Vitamix! I made Almond Milk for a whole year with a regular $40 blender and it worked great! I also have been getting into green smoothies and have been using a regular blender for that while visiting my mom and it works great. I bought myself a Vitamix for my one year anniversary of going raw and yes, you can make thick dips and soups and stuff in it without chopping the stuff and it's fun, but think of it more as a toy than a necessaty! I recommend getting a food processor though! Again, get a $40 one at you local Target or Sears or something like that. i'd get a large one, not a little miniature one though. You can make pie crusts, dips, sauces, sorbet and even shred cabbage and carrots etc in it. I love my food processor and wouldn't want to be without it. I also didn't have a dehydrator for the first year. I got one only because my kids love dehydrated foods, but they are a lot of work in my opinion and since I don't care for them much, I rarely make them. i wouldn't buy one yet if I were you. i got to borrow one first and try it out before deciding to get one, if there is anyway for you to do that I recomend it. I have heard some raw foodist LOVE their dehydrators though, so it varies greatly from person to person depending on what food you crave I guess, Good luck, I hope this helps!
