Here's my take on the list: Non-LifeFoods Dates--perhaps because they're high on the glycemic scale Cashews--because the process of removing the shells requires heat too high to be considered raw, although some companies sell cashews that they say are genuinely raw Bananas--they're hybridized, and thus high on the glycemic index Carrots--too much sugar content Beets--ditto Corn--hybridized (see above) Pineapple--perhaps because they contain too much sugar Wheatgrass--Gee, I hadn't heard this before. Hippocrates Institute is an advocate of wheatgrass. I personally don't like the taste. Grains--Not raw unless they're sprouted, and even so, hard to digest Legumes--ditto Potato--I wonder if he feels this way about small red potatoes. I've made dehydrated potato-spinach pancakes from them and they seem to be fine. Rice--See " grains " above. Wild rice (which is not actually rice) is okay if it's really raw and sprouted. It's in one of her recipe books. I'm cc-ing her husband re: this. Judy
Guest guest
Umm, because he's wrong? :-) About the dates and bananas and pineapples anyway. The rest I agree with, they are less than ideal human foods, difficult to digest, etc. Fruit is our primary food.
