Guest guest
I did my first all day water fast yesterday (I actually did spring water with lemon squeezed into it) and today I feel weak and exhausted. Was I supposed to do no activity during my fast? I didn't have a huge day, but I had been working extra hard the days leading up to the fast and I had an average hard working day on the day I fasted. I was surprised, I thought the fast would give me energy, not weaken me. Did I do something wrong? Also, I didn't poop all day the day of the fast and I thought I would cleanse. I even took a dose of " Colosan " in the morning which had really moved my bowels quickly and effeciently when I took it the week previously! Are you supposed to have intestinal cleansing during a water fast or am I misinformed? I feel like my spirit and my body were compeling me to do the fast because food was not appealing at all. Should I have done it differently? Is there a reputable source of info about this on line somewhere? Thanks! Denise
Guest guest
Hi Denise, I think the following online book by Herbert Shelton might be useful to you. He water fasted thousands of people and wrote several books on fasting and natural hygiene: http://snipurl.com/uhpu In my own experience, when I do a water fast I may not have very many eliminations; I just pee a lot and have an occasional movement. In the end though, believe me, the cleansing is amazing. A one day water fast won't necessarily move mountains of toxins out of one, but it's a great start, and yes, you may feel weak, especially the first two to three days while hunger is still in effect. I found my first 2- 3 day water fasts were pretty grueling. Don't get discouraged. It gets better. ;-) Re. whether to cleanse or not while fasting, again, the experts disagree. Some strongly recommend enemas or other cleansing methods; others, like Shelton, strongly discourage it. Some experts tell people to engage in moderate activity and even exercise while fasting; others strongly encourage rest. We're all different, and at different stages in our progress toward wellness we may have radically different responses to fasting. What I try to do is read two or three different articles or books for a balanced overview, especially before I do a long fast, come up with a basic plan, using my intuition, and then be open to change as the fast progresses. If I feel weak, I know that I need to rest. (I did this on my camping trip a lot of the time, and it was the right thing to do.) If I feel energetic I'll work, play and exercise to whatever degree feels right. Hope this helps!
