Guest guest
Hi there, I was wondering what you all give to your baby's as a first food? My son is 8 months old and has been only breastfed and I want to make sure he gets a good start. Someone suggested as goats milk is the closest thing to breast milk, that I should use that as well. How do I go about giving raw veges as his first foods? Thanks Hinarera
Guest guest
Hi Hinarera.. I suggest continuing on brestfeeding for at least a year, maybe two, and if moving to solid food as teeth come in, try banana: mashed up at first.... then blending any of: mango papaya etc suggest staying away from goat's milk - it's meant for goats! lol! your son is currently getting the 100%, absolute best nutrition possible. best, Bob rawfood , " hinarera " <hinarera wrote: > > Hi there, > I was wondering what you all give to your baby's as a first food? Guest guest
Hinarera, I have to say that I agree with Bob very much. I must commend you on solely breastfeeding for this long! Most people will start feeding their children solids at 6 months even when they may not be ready for it. When you do end up going with solids I also used blueberries for my daughter as well as corn for a veggie. Those were favorites. All of these are easily mixed up/ blended to the right consistency in the cuisinart. Aphrodite
Guest guest
Hinarera, Please don't rush into foods with your precious baby! I have 5 children, none that ate a single morsal early. I had so many people telling me that my children should be eating already. Why??? Breastmilk is best. You can't perfect on nature. Nothing is even close to the perfect nutrition in your own milk. So when you mention that you want to give him a good start, you already are. Do not let anyone tell you that you need to introduce foods yet. I am no expert, but I know that my children are seriously healthy, and they were all very " late " eaters. Just enjoy the time together in which you can provide such awesome nurishment! Guest guest
Nicely said, and right on target. Hinarera, when I asked earlier whether you see any teeth yet, this is the direction I was going. When your baby begins to show a few teeth, that will suggest readiness to BEGIN ... and only to begin ... with some nice, sweet fruits. By sweet fruits, I mean bananas, apricots, persimmons, figs, maybe some pears (not quite as sweet, but generally very mild). But not now, probably not even soon. Guest guest
Both of my kids were exclusively breastfed until they were almost a year old. Unfortunately, I wasn't raw then only vegetarian (about 80%). They both self weaned around 4. They are very bright independent kids. Keep up the good work! Another good first food is avocado. There are also little gadgets that look like pacifiers with a mesh end that you can put fresh fruit in. It allows the baby to enjoy firmer fruits and vegetables without the risk of choking. Some might argue that they shouldn't have the food until they can eat it themselves so you will have to guide yourself on that. My kids loved sucking on the fresh stuff. Good luck.
