Guest guest
I am not sure what I am doing wrong as most people who have posted have said that they are not hungry all the time, but I am. I just started the 99- 100% RAW 5 days ago. (because of balsamic vinegar) But I am craving food all the time. And I am craving the nuts and the coconuts and the avocados. Obviously that is all the high fat stuff. And when I think that I am full I am constantly thinking about food, in turn I start eating it again. I have started my day out with a fruit smoothie and am hungry with in 1 - 2 hours time. I know that in the last few days I have not drank enough water, but am much better at it today, yet I still feel the need to eat more and crave those nuts. It is an overwhelming craving although I really have not given in today. I generally think that I am pretty in tuned with my body, but I just cant figure this one out, and I am sure that I have a ton to learn because I started the raw diet without a TON of research. I started after having juice fasted for 8 days and going back to cooked food for one day and feeling totally bloated and rotten. Thanks all who have replied to my previous posts. I am happy that you put up with the beginners and their questions. How else would we learn right? Not everything is so easy to find online. I have already learned so much from only being with the group for 3 days. Aphrodite, Eau Claire, WI
Guest guest
I was just like that until I cut out salt, spices and spicy condiments such as onions, garlic, and jalapenos. I suddenly was not hungry and I have been releasing weight for the last month. Averaging about 3 pounds per week. Shari

Guest guest
Hi there, You should try filling up on more sweet dense fruit like bananas. Mangoes are in season now and are very yummy and filling if you have about 3 to 4 at a time. How big are your smoothies? When I was doing smoothies I used at least 4 bananas, the juice of an orange and a couple of cups of berries. That would fill me up for at least 3-4 hours. Try to eat more fruit and you'll crave less fat. Also, the hungry feeling will lessen as time goes on and you get more accustomed to the lighter feelings of raw food. Guest guest
I had the same experience with cravings going away when I eliminated salt and spices. It is great! :-) All the best, Audrey www.rawhealing.com > " SV " <shavig >rawfood ><rawfood > >Re: [Raw Food]cravings / hungry >Wed, 09 Aug 2006 14:59:06 -0700 > >I was just like that until I cut out salt, spices and spicy condiments such >as onions, garlic, and jalapenos. Guest guest
Well, the way I did it was I quit eating them, only for 30 days and then ate some and hated them. Same with garlic and jalapenos. Shari

With the discussion Shari and I are having and now THIS -- My breakfast or lunch smoothie is 1/2 of a banana, and a handful of frozen strawberries (6 or 7 large) and 1/2 cup of almond milk. That fills me up sometimes for the whole day. I'm NOT skinny, either :>) I'm a healthy size 4, (sometimes 6, depending) and my size 2s are snug. Guest guest
Hi Melanie, That almond milk in your smoothie is probably keeping you fuller. You might want try eliminating it and using more bananas, if your goal is to reduce your fat intake, that is. :-) Take care, Audrey www.rawhealing.com > " melanieburtis " <melanieburtis >rawfood >rawfood >Re: [Raw Food]cravings / hungry >Thu, 10 Aug 2006 13:11:19 -0000 > >When I was doing smoothies I used at > > least 4 bananas, the juice of an orange and a couple of cups of berries. > > That would fill me up for at least 3-4 hours. > > > Audrey > > www.rawhealing.com > > > >OK -- now I'm confused. Guest guest
Relax. If you are hungry - eat. So what? Just eat a little. It's part of getting ahold of the " natural " man. You can do it only if you are enjoying " the ride " . Guest guest
Aphrodite, I have to agree with Judy, eat if you are hungry. When I first started on the transition in Feb I was hungry all the time. I made a point to have snacks with me all the time, and ate about every two hours. I would eat breakfast, then a fruit snack at 10 am, lunch, then a fruit snack again at 3 pm. I still keep fruits with me for snacks, but I am finding that I eat alot less now than I did in Feb. To date I have lost 25 lbs, so I wouldn't worry about eating too much. Eat when you are hungry and make sure its a good raw choice. I am saying all this assuming that you are drinking enough water and what you are feeling is hunger not thirst. One caution since you mentioned nuts, is that they are very easy to over eat. I have pre-bagged almonds in the snack size zip locks in single serving sizes so that I don't just graze on the whole pound. Well, that was a little more than 2 cents worth!
