Guest guest
I didn't even realize that I bought virgin coconut oil and not extra virgin coconut oil from Tropical Traditions. http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htm Is there a difference? Guest guest
A friend of mine did some research (but I'm not sure where she got her info from) and said she learned that there is no difference. You migh try contacting the company and ask them. Also I believe there is a good website with mega info on all things coconut-related, try googling! I recommend Coconut Oil that has been cold extracted. I found out from the website of the coconut oil I was using that was extra virgin (Tropical Traditions) that is was heated in the extraction process. They didn't say to what temp, so I felt that I'd prefer to look for some that was extracted with no heat. I also prefer the taste of the cold extracted by far! I use NFL's Coconut Oil and like it very much. Not trying to push any brands, just letting you know what I like. Guest guest
I tried NFL's and thought it smelled burnt. So I switched to Tropical Traditions only to find what Denise had said. Now I use www.livecoconutoil.com He gets his from Sri Lanka and it is the best I've tried and I went on a hunt and pretty much tried every one out there. All his profits go back to the families in Sri Lanka since the tsnami. The other one I like and I can get from some one close by is Nutriva (I think that's the brand). Guest guest
Sent before I was done. I just wanted to say IF you are still cooking food, use coconut oil in place of any other oil you are using for cooking. I also put about 1T in my nut milks and it seems to make them much creamier.
