Guest guest
Hello, everyone! Elchanan, I found your posts regarding milk and its addictive properties very interesting, and enlightening. For years, if I've gone for a few days without having milk, I used to get this real, physical craving for it. I didn't understand it. Joking, I would tell friends that I needed my " milk fix. " After reading your posts, I now know why I felt that way. I talked with Audrey yesterday about going 100% raw again. I've been doing a lot of writing and pondering, and I think milk and other dairy is going to be the hardest for me to give up. Does anyone here have any suggestions? I hear lots of talk about nut milk. How is that made, and which kinds would most resemble real milk in taste/texture? Basically, what is a good raw replacement for dairy? Guest guest
Hi Alicia, You can find lots of recipes for various nut " milks " online. They are pretty easy to make. You take some nuts and soak them, then blend them with purified water and whatever else you want to add to make it taste better, and then strain before drinking to remove the pulp. Most people add dates to add sweetness. While nut milks do taste good when you consider them as just something yummy to have in their own right, I don't think anyone could say that they taste like " real " milk. :-) They might replicate the sensation of having milk for you though, it's worth a try. I think the best thing to do would be for your to read (over and over again if you have to) the many websites and books that discuss why consumming dairy is SO bad for humans (and why dairy production is so bad for the environment and of course for cows). www.notmilk.com and " The China Study " by T. Colin Campbell are great ways to start! And of course, as E says so eloquently, dealing directly with the emotional and mental dependance on food is always recommended. :-) All the best, Audrey www.rawhealing.com > " Alicia Richards " <Alicia716 >rawfood ><rawfood > >[Raw Food] Re: Milk Attraction >Fri, 11 Aug 2006 19:47:40 -0500 > >Hello, everyone! > >Elchanan, I found your posts regarding milk and its addictive properties >very interesting, and enlightening.
