Guest guest
Thanks for the link to some additional research, Amanda. But now I don't know what to believe! For all I know, Mikkelson could be associated with the Canadian government, our FDA, or the Canola oil industry. They can lie about the details on how Canola really came to be and get away with it. So I did a hand towl test - I put a teaspoon of Canola oil on one end and rubbed in a teaspoon of coconut oil on the other. I put it through the wash on hot with salt, and with vinegar for the rinse. The coconut oil came out perfectly, but there was a slight stain from the Canola - and the texture of the stain was a bit rough. Most people are familiar with food oil stains on their clothes, right? So I would still do not trust Canola, and like Dave mentioned, it would be nice to see the natural salad dressing manufacturers stop using it. They should go back to the good old days when coconut oil or even olive oil were used instead! -Tiffany Lohr Amanda Feagin <amanda_feagin wrote: I think that there are a lot of people writing a lot of things on the Internet. Before we become sheep, I think we should look at all sides of an issue. http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/canola.asp Better yet, let's not consume oil. Maybe we could initiate a 'grassroots' movement by sending the link to that article on canola oil to everyone in our address book? And write email and snail mail letters to most of the 'natural foods' companies, including a copy of the article, and stating that we belong to health interest groups in which our members have collectively notified so many thousands of friends, family and coworkers? And if it would help them understand and transition faster, we are also willing to hand out fliers outside of natural markets? -Tiffany Lohr Sharrhan wrote: Sad to say, but all the salad dressing companies, including the 'natural' ones, use canola oil, because it's so cheap. I doubt any of these companies will change their recipes unless the public starts getting informed on a massive scale about the harmfulness of canola oil.
