Hello, all! this group has been really great at providing local resources, so

I'll throw one more question at you guys.

I just found out that I am going to be relocating to Omaha Nebraska for a job in

about one month. this is a really good thing for me! do any of you know of raw

food resources in the Omaha area, such as restaurants, or just folks who are

into the raw and living foods lifestyle? I've found that if I can locate

restaurants, I can branch out from there for other resources. Any ideas you

guys have would be appreciated.

Hi Alicia,

I'd like to tell you there are a lot of raw food restaurants here in Omaha, but

I'm afraid this is " the heart of beef country " . People here do great just

trying to be vegetarians. Health restaurants open, but soon close from lack of

interest. I have noticed that more restaurants are including some vegetarian

choices, but not raw, except for their salads. We do have two Wild Oats and a

Whole Foods Store here and even our local grocery stores carry a nice selection

of organic foods. McFosters Restaurant is about the only one that I know of

that has stayed in business. I've ask them to put some raw vegan selections in

their menu, but last time I was there all they had was salads and some veggies

with dip. They do serve carrot and wheatgrass juice. Wish I could be more

positive but I've just not found too many like-minded people in these parts. A

couple of years ago, I put up some notices in some of the smaller HFS (which

have gone out of business since Wild Oats) for anyone that would like to get

together a group interested in raw veganism. I got NO response! So other than

a few groups on the internet, I'm basically just a " hermit " .

Hi Sharon,

I'm in the same boat living in Lawrence, KS. Talk about beef

country! Gratefully, I have one friend, and her husband, who are raw

vegans. And, I have the internet. The power of the net is amazing

if you think about it.
