Has anyone every dehydrated mangoes? I'm fine now with dehydrating

prepared food but everytime I try fruit it just doesn't seem to work.

My manual is very vague and not helpful. I have a crate of mangoes I

purchased at a good cost and I'm trying to save the ones I can't eat.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Down here in mango heaven, we remove the skin and seed and slice into very

thin slices. The thinner you slice the more they just melt on your tongue.

Hi, Tammy,

I have jumped into dehydrating mangos for the first time. I peeled and

sliced them about 1/4 " thick and laid them out on the trays. I didn't

treat them with anything. The ones you buy in the store are usually

treated to keep them from turning dark and sweetened. My dehydrator

operates at about 108 degrees. I checked on mine this morning and they

looked like they are progressing nicely. I froze some of mine, too. I

peeled the mangos and cut in chunks. I've dehydrated papaya, too. It's

good dipped into agave nectar.

Thanks Tommie,

I didn't think to freeze them. What a great idea. Then I would have

them for my smoothies. I'm still going to try and dehydrate some too.

We are on the go alot and I want snacks to bring along.

Good morning, Tammy! I tried the dehydrated mango yesterday and it is

yummy! The fruit I used wasn't too flavorful to begin with but it's

all been concentrated. I'm sure I'll have to make myself not eat it

too often since it is so rich but it will be nice for a treat now and

then. I'm going to take some to work today to share with the others.

Thanks, Tommie.

I can't wait to try mine! What was the final texture like? Totally

dry or still a bit moist inside. I guess I'm still not sure what I am

shooting for.

Dang! Mangos are already gone around here. Next year. Anybody ever dry

persimmons? I always ask the produce girls to keep the ones they are going to

throw away for me. They are the best!

Oh yes!

You can freeze just about any fruit and then run it through a Champion

juicer for easy, quick ice cream (I usually freeze at least half of

the bananas I buy, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries... )
