Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone might know of a website that has a list of good raw foods that would be good for a person starting out raw. I have been eating so much fruit and veggies but just the basics, Salad, tomatoes, carrots, apples and such? What could be filling and not just your blood sugar but stabilize it so it is not to high no too low? Basically does anyone recommend any good sites to get me started. I wanna do this right lose weight in a healthy way and feel good too.. But I someday get so hungry that I wanna cheat and eat processed foods or energy bars. How can I get on the right track any help would be great.. Thanks, Karen
Guest guest
Here ya go!! Here's a few to get you started! There's also a free downloadable recipe book on site but you might have to do a search for it cause I'm not sure the exact wording...something like rawpleasure.au....its from Australia. Remember also that there are lots of veggies and fruits to try so be be sure to experiment with new adventures in produce. Good luck! www.therawtable.com www.shazzie.com www.living-foods.com www.rawboards.com Noelle:) (I'm halfway through a 21-day raw challenge and I've been studying the raw thing for about 2 months.) Guest guest
Karen - if you want to try my blog - you can check it out. I started it for my 5 daughters and I think that it's a pretty good start for those who are transitioning into raw. It isn't a perfect blog - but a family one. It has been hard to keep it up - but it might help for now. Hi Karen: Here is a recipe for raw food energy bars that I found while I was looking for something to do with raisins. High Energy Bars (from Living in the Raw by Rose Calabro) 1 C barley (soaked two days) 2 C soft wheat berries, sprouted 1 day 3/4 C honey dates 3 T raw honey 1 t vanilla 1 t cinnamon 1 C walnuts, soaked 6-8 hours and chopped 1/2 C almonds, soaked 12-48 hours, blanched and chopped Process barley, wheat, and dates through a Champion Juicer using the solid plate (or you could process them in a high-speed blender, or a food processor -- they just won't be as fine) Add honey, vanilla, cinnamon, walnuts, and almonds. Mix well. Form into bars, and place on teflex sheets on trays in the dehydrator. Dehydrate at 105 degrees for 4 hours, turn bars over, and rmove teflex sheets. Continue dehydrating for 4 - 6 hours, or until desired moisture is obtained. As far as links to websites, please check out our list's links section at rawfood/links Margaret
Guest guest
Wheat and barley are not optimum foods, however, if you choose to use them, I would find some that sprouts. Most barley I have found does not sprout. I know the difference between barley that is hulled, having the outer part of grain scraped off. I would soak them for about 5 hours - then leave them sit for at least 20 hours, rinsing once or twice to see if they sprout. If they don't, I don't use them. Sometimes it might take a bit longer - a couple of days, but it they haven't begun to sprout by them I toss them.
