Guest guest
I found some refrigerated, organic red salsa at the HFS. Has this been pasteurized? It would sure be easier than making salsa each time. Thanks, Beth
Guest guest
Hi Beth, You have to call the manufacturer. Some of the salsas in the plastic containers might be raw, but some of them may be made with stewed (cooked) tomatoes as a base. Anything in a can or jar is not raw, of course. Guest guest
And be sure to quiz them thoroughly, Beth. I was purchasing some fresh salsa after speaking to the owner/maker and being assured twice (!) it was all raw. One night when I was eating some and just couldn't stop (one of my indicators that it was cooked), I phoned the woman at home. I made her go through all the ingrediets, one by one. When she arrived at tomato juice, I had my aha! moment. I find occasionally that SAD people have no concept of what's raw and what isn't. Probably. >It would sure be easier than making salsa each time. I have found myself over the past 10 years or so getting funkier and funkier about prepared foods, even if they *are* raw. I have kept it to myself mostly, but, in a recent raw lifestyle training I attended, our teachers told us, in our last class, that, if we were in a bad mood, we should not prepare food, but rather fast until we felt more positive, because the vibes would get into the food. I guess you might imagine that I don't eat out much. For home use, I just buy whole foods and make up whatever I want. Margaret
