Guest guest
At the institute, we soak almonds overnight and then pop the skins off before making nut pates and seed milks. I know that there has been a lot made of the inhibitors in almond skins, but there has been some new research indicating that the skin of the almond seed actually intensifies the power of the vitamin E in the almond. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice & dbid=20 " The flavonoids found in almond skins team up with the vitamin E found in their meat to more than double the antioxidant punch either delivers when administered separately, shows a study published in the June 2005 issue of the Journal of Nutrition. " Any thoughts? *********************************************************** Tom Spontelli Instructor Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute Aguada PR 00602 USA www.AnnWigmore.org Two week Living Foods Lifestyle Certification Program on tropical beach at one of the world's most respected Living Foods Institutes. ***********************************************************
Guest guest
Tom: My thoughts after 5 years of alternative raw/living foods experimentation is: It is better to avoid behaviors and foods that cause free radical damage then to ingest antioxidants. I.e. when I consumed more toxic foods I enjoyed eating the skins on fruit etc. (antioxidant containing) now that I am more careful what I consume I prefer to peel my fruits and vegetables. I also am more comfortable now being light and empty feeling compared to before prefering to be full and heavy. My two cents.
