In very many instances, at the close of intellectual task–work,

suspension of bodily activity is not what is wanted: play is what is

needed – not work! As against the labor of the brain, labor of the body

may be setup; but it must come “in disguise”: it must not come in the

form of toil; it must come in better and more acceptable way, clad in the

garb of recreation. There is nothing in all our educational, social, or

domestic arrangements which is so much needed by all classes of persons

as opportunity for recreation – the means of recreating ourselves

against the wear to which our daily life subjects us.
