Guest guest
Hi Everybody, I went to a raw food lecture on Sat.and the teacher Janee said she makes a fruit smoothie. It's with 1 pear, raspberries and kale. Then Janee puts in 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil, 1 to 2 tablespoons of lechitin granules which is soy (didn't know this until last night) and 2 scoops of " Raw Power " . Raw Power has the Brazil nut powder, hemp protein powder, maca gogi berry powder & maca extreme. Anyways, about 2 years ago I was tested with food allergies and soy was one of my allergic/reactive foods. Anyways, didn't know that the lechitin granules are made of soy powder. Found out last night when I was talking to a friend. That's why I'm so bloated because of the soy being my allergic food. Last night I bumped into a friend at the Mustard Seed Market and I was telling her that I gained 3.6 pounds in one week at my weight group. I was passing gas (lol) quite a bit and now today been passing gas again. This morning I didn't use the soy lechitin granules. I did use " Thor's Raw Power " . If I still get the gas tomorrow I may stop using the " Raw Power, too. Frederic Patenaude doesn't believe in noni juice, protein powders or green powders. I've been checking out his website and newsletters and I find out that Frederic is simple. Said nuts and seeds have their place in moderation and that you won't find many recipes with nuts and seeds in his recipe book called " Raw Sensations " I ordered the " Raw Sensation " recipe book and also his book called " Raw Secrets. " Well, have to go for now. Will keep you all informed. Have a good evening. Hugs, Janice from Twinsburg Ohio
Guest guest
Janice, I make ALL fruit smoothies - depending on how " thick " I want them depends on how much frozen fruits I put in. If you follow food-combining practicies, you can toss this one out the window. Here is my basic recipie: Berries (usually 2 kinds) Banana or Mango type fruit (thickening agent) Orange and/or pinapple (for the liquid mainly) Blend it in a blender and drink. I like a thicker smoothie so as my fruits ripen, and to save on waste, I clean/cut and freeze the portion I know I cannot use before it goes bad, and use one frozen portion for the smoothie. If I want it thick, like a sorbet/icecream, I use all frozen except maybe some pinapple or orange. I don't freeze the citrus fruits. If you like your smoothie not cold, you can use more banana or mango, it is a thinner consistancy. You can make a lot of combinations to your liking. My daughter loves watermelon and kiwi (both I am allergic to). Since you don't add any ice, it never waters down. Great, easy meal or snack. If you feel you need to add any supplements, you can, of course. Happy eating! Guest guest
I personally have not taken the 'Raw Power' supplement on a regular basis. I have a friend that used to put it in smoothies that I would drink, but only on occasion. I would definately classify Fredric Patenaude as a Natural Hygenist....not that this is a bad thing, but Natural Hygene is deffinately even more restrictive than even the raw food diet. That being said, I have SERIOUSLY cut down on the amount of nuts and seeds I eat in the last two months. I was realizing the other day how much better my digestive system feels. I don't have a bad case of 'gas' every day. I have been raw three years this coming January and I have always had gas, or at least I remember it that way. I knew it was from the nuts I was eating, but I couldn't stop. Finally, I just don't really want them any more. My two cents.... take it for what it's worth to you. Guest guest
If I eat nuts, seeds & lentil sprouts with dark green veggies, I don't have gas problem at all! Otherwise, once in a while, I have gas problem. Now-a-days, I eat nuts, seeds & lentil sprouts only with dark green veggies. Also, soaking them helps in digestion. Food combination guideline says that mixing fruits and nuts is not a good idea! I take " Raw Power " with green veggie juice & don't have gas problem. It doesn't taste all that great though! I take this only after workouts. Dark green veggies supply enough amino acids for my body if I am NOT working out! My 2 cents! - Hemant. Guest guest
My favorite drink is, two medium carrots, two apples and two bananas. run them thru the juicer and enjoy. You could not pay me to eat a banana straight.
Guest guest
Sorry, I don't mean to be simple but you put your bananas through the juicer too? Do you have a super duper one or just a regular juicer? I am wondering if that would work with mine. Thanks. Guest guest
I've been wondering the same thing, Tammy. Bananas in the juicer? I would get baby food with mine (GreenPower). Shari
Guest guest
I just didn't think to use the food processor. I have a JuiceMan. I just ran everything through there and it was good.
