I do think that when people posture themselves as the be-all and end-all of knowingness, and begin to put down others' ideas, it can be daunting to many. This list has been through many cycles of " food nazis " who alone possessed the secrets of the proper raw food life style. The way I figure it is that we are all going to do what we can, and what we can is going to be different for each person. If we are interested in raw foods just per se, that is already a good thing. So you want to use vinegar? Do! So you cheat? What is cheating? the way I figure it you cannot cheat your own self-- you are just doing what you want to do. There is just cheating is someone is standing over you with a stick and you are trying to fool *them*. With raw food-ism, you would only be fooling yourself, but you cannot fool yourself, can you? Yea! It's impossible to cheat. All you are doing is making choices. Your choices may not be my choices. So? They are your choices. These kinds of arguments (vinegar is bad/not bad, garlic is bad/not bad, lemon is bad/not bad, natural hygiene is the only way, etc. are classified in the files under *politics*. Why? When people start to talk about them, they tend to get high and mighty and announce their viewpoints to the world as the only way, and anyone who does not believe as they do tends to get trounced in some way.) The way I figure it is: if you are working at integrating raw food into your life, you are a smart puppy. Doing more raw food than not raw food? Smart puppy. Lying and saying you are doing this or that-- not so smart puppy. Telling everyone that what you believe is the only way: dangerous puppy. A while back, someone on the list told me that carrot tops are poison. Oh well. I still haven't died, and I have found websites that say carrot tops are good. The guy who sold me the last carrots with tops said that they are good, they just don't taste like carrots (duh) I am glad to discover from natural hygiene that I should not mix lemon with anything. I hate lemon in food, although I like lemonade. Now I have a good excuse. Before, I just did not use lemon. (Oh! but I do use the " cheddar cheeze " recipe from the files, which has lemon) You just have to be prepared to do what seems right to you and take all else at face value, or with a grain of salt, just like the rest of everything else in the world.
