Guest guest
I've been doing it for a month and I lost 34 pounds in 27 days. I have several hundred pounds to lose so I don't think my results are typical. Part of the appeal of the site for me is the focus on weight loss. There are many great on-line raw food discussion groups with lots of suggestions on how to make raw food taste great. At the raw food boot camp they like to keep it simple and avoid raw foods and raw recipes that are not helpful for weight loss. That means avocados, nuts, seeds, oils, etc. The busiest day on the forum is weigh in day where everyone posts their weight loss results. There are a number of active members who have lost a great deal of weight and healed themselves of various physical problems. The folks at the boot camp have been very encouraging and supportive to me as they are to each other. It's not perfect…nothing ever is. But I'm about to sign up for month two. I think membership is only open to folks who need to lose 75 pounds or more. In my mind it's certainly more cost effective and healthier then weight loss surgery. I also noticed that they do not seem to have any flab on them at all... everything looks tight vs people who have has weight loss surgery that need to have even MORE surgery to tighten everything up. Guest guest
Hi James, I'll share my understanding of the program. 100% raw foods. Input what you eat onto Fitday.com and keep you fat intake between 10% and 20% of your total calories. Some folks do better at 20%, some people are trying to do 10%. To accomplish this you will need to limit avocados, nuts, seeds, etc. Additionally, we avoid dates, and limit bananas to one or two a day since it's really easy to pile on the calories eating these. Beyond that it's up to you. Lots of fruit, salads, and smoothies. We're encouraged to eat at least 1000 calories a day so we don't screw up our metabolism, and I'm averaging 1200 per day. We're also expected to commit to doing 1 hour of exercise per day, and to checking in with a mentor group daily and also blogging a minimum of 4 times per week. Some members are also working the Overeater Anonymous Program. This past month I've been studying an alternative behavior modification program called SMART to deal with my eating behavior. It's nothing you can't do on your own, but it is helpful to check in daily with a group of people all eating raw to achieve their health goals. Oh, I think Carlene sometimes makes exceptions and takes on folks who have less then 75 pounds to lose. If you're interested you could always ask her. http://www.rawfoodbootcamp.com/ VW rawfood , " Noctaire " <noctaire wrote: > > I " only " need to drop about 50 more pounds to be in my ideal range, so I > don't qualify. Is there some kind of guidelines on what raw foods to eat? Like menus for example, or a list of certain things to eat/not eat at certain meals? Or is it just a general raw food diet with low fat? Guest guest
No menus, no quantities, no guidelines on what to eat with what or at what meal. You can read through other peoples blogs for ideas, and you post questions which folks will be happy to answer. But yes, it's basically a general raw diet with low fat. Once upon a time, meat wasn't nearly as focal to the meal as it is today (and it wasn't that long ago). Although I'm still looking at the raw food diet in general to get a firm handle on protein (and I don't mean " diet " in the modern convention, but rather in the more scientific definition), it sounds like the raw food boot camp takes the diet one step further by even more reduction of fat. Those nutrients need to be made up somewhere so I'm curious about what sources they recommend. I dunno -- I'm still learning about raw food eating in general and trying to decide if it's right for me, even as the predominant form of nutrition for me. Always learnin'! Guest guest
Thanks Kieba, I will keep this in mind. At the moment I am out of a job (the word they used was " surplus " !) so I am tight on cash, but when a new job comes my way I'll be coming your way!
