Guest guest
Hi, my name is Lacey and I have tasted the life of a raw fooder from time to time in the last year and a half. I have gone 100% for several months in the past, but my old habits and lack of support take a toll on me. I am hoping that by joining this group I will be able to go back to 100% raw and have the support I need to stay there. I love raw foodism. I have never felt better in my life than when I was raw. My kids like it too, but I have to really work to keep them full. We eat all day long! No kidding! I am so glad to be here! Lacey
Guest guest
Hi Lacey, It's nice to meet you. I'm new to this group also. Feeding children raw must be challenging. I look forward to hearing more about your adventures with raw foods. Guest guest
Hi Lacey, welcome! While I'm not exactly new to the group, I'm new to posting to the group. I haven't gone 100% at all. I hoped by joining this group that I'd also have the support. I have 3 chompin' children and I know what you mean about feeding them all day! They are always hungry. We're not even 50% right now, so with all the cooked or semi-processed food, they eat allllll the time! I notice a big difference on days when we eat mostly raw. They don't tend to eat as often. They eat more during meal time, but not so much grazing all day as when they're eating other stuff. I agree...I feel wonderful when eating mostly raw. I feel tons better just with switching to a veggie diet, in and of itself! It will be nice to take this journey with you...and do you know of any good raw pregnancy books? Take care, Mary Jo PS...duh, I didn't write an intro to myself! It's in a recent post titled, " Quasi Newbie Here " . I'd retype here, but my young ones need me now. Time for our evening walk! Good night...
Guest guest
Mary Jo, thank you for your response. I have five children, and I have noticed that they eat in huge volumes when we tend towards fruitarianism. When we eat more greens and other proteins like sprouted chickpea humus they can wait a bit longer between meals. As for a raw pregnancy, I know Jingee has a web site that mentions it, and Hygiea Halfmoon has some stuff on pregnancy. I didn't read anything for my last pregnancy, and all I did was listen to my body in order to eat all the good raw stuff I needed. I had a great first trimester, followed by the biggest binge of all time in the next trimester. With only the last trimester to go, I had put on over 45 lbs of body fat during the pregnancy so far, in only 6 months! This was FAR above what I should have gained. So, I made up my mind and I stopped eating crap that very second and went on to have a marvellous third trimester . I usually ate a huge popcorn bowl of salad in a sitting, and I constantly had fruit and smoothies. I couldn't eat nuts because my sons and dh have serious nut allergies, but everything else was fair game. I only ate two things that weren't on the raw food list, and that was salad dressing and occasionally some cheese when my body felt like it. (looking back I should have just increased my avocados or coconuts instead of cheese) Anyhow, I lost over 15 lbs of fat in my last trimester, and still gave birth to a very healthy 8 lb baby! I could actually see the fat melting off my body from one day to the next, but my belly was still growing! My maternity clothes started to get baggy, and I fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes right after having the baby! I have never looked so good after having a baby! Everyone was commenting on my physique and my energy! I felt so radiant! I went out shopping when my baby was 1 day old, and I had all five kids with me! Well, that got a bit long winded, but I truly believe that this way of eating is a cure-all and the answer to so many questions. Thanks for reading! Guest guest
Hi Lacey! Yes, I know what you mean about wanting cheese. I was thinking it was calcium that my body was craving...I crave it quite a bit. I have a particular craving for mac-n-cheese that's just bugging the life out of me! At the beginning, I wanted onions...the bad ones...french fried onions with horseradish. One box of nasty, cheap ones did me in though and I haven't craved them since. Blech!! I was craving California/Phili rolls for quite a time, too. I almost ate a whole tray in one sitting...the cucumber and avocado and yes, the cream cheese...oh, it was delish. I do still want avocado. I love guacamole and have a wonderful recipe for it that I use. My first raw uncook book was, " Rejuvenate Your Life " by Serene Allison. I love that little book and I've only tried a couple recipes that didn't taste all that great...of course I was preggo when I tried them...so that might have had something to do with it. But, she mentioned that she had a similar uncook book in the works for a raw pregnancy, which I haven't seen. I'd love to have that one, as she has had a few raw pregnancies, too. I haven't really gained any weight yet. My pants are baggy also. But, I'm determined not to look like the Hershey's kiss my hubby so loves this time and I've been working my legs and thighs like there's no tomorrow. I'm pretty sure that has more to do with my loose pants than my eating habits right now. I am hoping that as time goes by I'll be able to go completely raw. Right now though, most veggies and some fruits aren't too appealing to me. Just a phase, I know. Well, now who's the long-winded one? I tend to be pretty long- winded. I better go now though. Take care, Mary Jo Oh, yes...we're mostly fruitarians when we're mostly raw. Salads and marinated zucchini or green beans are about all we do veggie wise, so far in my limited raw experience, though I could eat the heck out of marinated mushrooms!
