Guest guest
Hi all -- I am new both to this group and to a raw diet -- at least for me. I have been feeding my dogs a species appropriate raw diet (raw meat bones and organs) for about 8 months and I have been thinking that I need to do the same for me and my kids. I am 43 and quite a bit overweight -- at least 120# to get rid of. I have successfully dieted in the past, but nothing is working right now. So I think I need a whole new start and whole new way to eat for ever. I doubt I will ever be 100% raw or 100% vegan, but I am aiming for 70/30. I started the Master Cleanser fast last night -- the lemonade is pretty good!. I do have a question though -- what is a good laxative herbal tea that is readily available at a grocery store? Also - the quart of sea salt water -- is there a way to make that go down better? And, I did not have any particular reaction to the first quart - should I have?? Can I drink the salty water at night rather than in the morning?? Thanks... Kathy R.
Guest guest
Hi, Kathy A good laxative tea that i use during the Master Cleanse is the Triple Leaf brand - it's gets the job done! I usually start doing the sea salt water cleanse 2 or 3 days after starting the fast, once my poo becomes really liquidy. I feel like the salt water is more effective when it can really go through you. I haven't found a way to make it more palatable - i know it's tough, and many people get a gag reaction - but you just gotta do it! If you do it correctly - FIRST thing in the morning only - it will come right out within 10 minutes or so! Good luck with your fast- if you have more questions, i am so passionate about the Master Cleanse, and would be happy to advise! Okay, Kathy, I could give you the hard line --- or I could just congratulate you on choosing to go more raw. Shoot for the best you can do. One book I love is Living in the Raw by Rose Calabro: She gives a raw progression diet: raw one day a week, then more, then more... it is very do-able (and her recipes are fabulous... and, if you have questions, you can email her, and she gets back to you! That is what really amazed me and made me a fan!) Hard line would be: if you think you can " only " do X, that is all you can do. Middle of the road: Do what you can. Have a " Let's see where this goes " attitude. You'll be amazed! > I started the Master Cleanser fast last night -- the lemonade is > pretty good!. I do have a question though -- what is a good > laxative herbal tea that is readily available at a grocery store? I usually use LaxaTea from Celestial Seasonings. If I cannot find it, I use one called Smooth Move -- I cannot remember the name of the manufacturer-- I think it is Natural " something " . Both of these will work. > Also - the quart of sea salt water -- is there a way to make that go > down better? I find that, if you make the water a little hotter than " lukewarm " , the process still works, but the water is more like " bouillon " (sp), and it goes down more easily -- not boiling but warmer than lukewarm - the last warm before you have to blow on it. > And, I did not have any particular reaction to the first quart - > should I have?? Did you get an intense interest in going to the bathroom after 1/2 hour to 45 minutes? Did that interest continue for a while? (I usually get up an hour earlier when I am doing Master Cleanse, and do the salt water right away, then sit around and read the paper, or read inspirational things, or recipes, until I " hear the call " . > > Can I drink the salty water at night rather than in the morning?? The concept is that you are doing the Laxative tea at night, and the salt water in the morning. You need to do both to get the best effect. After you do it for a couple of days, you do get used to it. Then you feel more willing to do it. My first Master Cleanse, I lost about 10 lbs. (that was really good because it helped me start on a serious low starch/sugar (i.e. low glycemic index)/high protein diet, which led me back to raw food. Nowadays, I don't usually lose weight, because I am at the low end of acceptable weight for my height. I did a Master Cleanse before my colonoscopy -- I told the nurse I had not followed the instructions but had done the Master Cleanse, and she wanted to know more when I was reported to have been the " cleanest " colonoscopy recently. Master Cleanse is much better before a colonoscopy because you can predict the results better, and you are not tied to all sorts of weird chemical stuff at all sorts of weird hours, so you can go to work during the days before the procedure. For more information, check out the list links in: rawfood/links/FASTING and the files at rawfood/files in Detoxing/Fasting/Flushing both of these areas contain a lot of information on Master Cleanse. I hope this helps... if not, please feel free to contact me privately. Margaret
