Guest guest
I was wanting to know if detoxing can cause migraines? I know a few months back I went from a process diet with little fruits and veggies to about 95% fruits and veggies and I started feeling great..I had all kinds of energy.. Then all of a sudden one day when I was driving I started seeing flashing aura zig zag lights like what you might see when having a migraine. This kept happening for sometime and I went to the doc and they said I have just started having migraines and I was like huh. Cause I used to not have even a headache but once every three months or so thank goodness..Then I start having migraines 3 to 4 days out of a 7 day week..I did not know what was going on.. Then all of a sudden I had a massive cold I had not had one like that in years.. And after that my migraines went to almost 0 only now and again when I was really stressed. Then I went back to more process foods and I have not had a migraine in like 1 1/2 months.. Could it be that I was very very toxic and I went to fast switching and my body needed a detox so bad that I made myself have the migraines? I was also wondering if it would be safe to go on a juice fast with fresh veggies and fruits for about a week? Then slowly go back to fruit and veggie raw diet and then add other raw foods little by little? I am just wondering cause right now I have been so tired again and stressed and I feel my body could feel good if I got rid of some toxins and go off a great deal and stayed off as much as possible of the processed foods? Also I was on meds for about 13 years for my nerves and I have now been off one for a year and the other will be a year next month. Do you think that might have made me so toxic to cause those migraines and rapid detox? Just asking.. Thanks for any input and or help in better understanding... Guest guest
Hey there, I saw that you emailed this question to a few groups that have very different outlooks on raw food and detoxing. Hopefully the info you're getting back isn't too confusing. I know one of the groups in particular teaches Natural Hyigene which doesn't believe in cleansing at all. Rather than answering the questions myself, I took the liberty of asking my health coach what his responses would be - his answers are in bold. He has a class about raw food and cleansing coming up in January, too. He is so awesome and everything he has taught me has allowed me to stay 100% raw for 3 years come January. He is a great teacher and lover of people! On a personal note, I started out raw food 3 years ago with a cleanse. I cleansed for 39 days (mostly because I had health issues that I wanted to get rid of, the normal duration is 30 days) and lost 51 lbs. More so than the weight loss was the immense amount of toxins dumped from my system. I cleansed my liver about my 5th month of raw. I did about 2 other cleanses in the first year and I really think it helped me to arrive at a great state of health where I felt really good all the time. For that first year and maybe even year and a half, I would have days when I felt GREAT! and days when I felt totally lethargic, achey, nauseated, etc... I realized that this was my body going through waves of detoxification. I am sooooo glad I did all that cleansing in the first year so I could get over that hump and start feeling good all the time! The body processing out some long held nasties. Perhaps Natural Cellular Defense can help you detox more easily. I was also wondering if it would be safe to go on a juice fast with fresh veggies and fruits for about a week? ONLY if you do an enema or colonic EVERY day. Otherwise you'll detox even more quickly. It would be much better to do the Arise and Shine or Vitratox so that your body has assistance in detoxing. Then slowly go back to fruit and veggie raw diet and then add other raw foods little by little? I am just wondering cause right now I have been so tired again and stressed and I feel my body could feel good if I got rid of some toxins and go off a great deal and stayed off as much as possible of the processed foods? Very true, a good cleanse will really help you out. Also I was on meds for about 13 years for my nerves and I have now been off one for a year and the other will be a year next month. Do you think that might have made me so toxic to cause those migraines and rapid detox? Absolutely. As well as heavy metals, cooked food, toxic emotions and other poisons. Just asking.. Thanks for any input and or help in better understanding. .. Karen My pleasure! To your amazing health! Arnoux www.iamhealthyinc.com

Guest guest
When I say 'cleanse' I am talking about a particular blend of herbs and minerals that assist the body in the removal of toxins, mucoid plaque, and rebuilding of bodily systems. I did the Arise and Shine cleanse for 39 days. I went through all four phases of the cleanse. It's all explained in the cleanse kit when you purchase the cleanse, but here's a simple break down. It is suggested that any person using this cleanse only consume a Vegan, Raw diet. If one must, 80% raw is ok. The first phase starts with 3 meals and as you enter a new phase every 7 days (or so) you drop a meal until you arive in the 4th phase consuming only fresh vegetable juice. The kit includes a list of foods. You can read about cleansing - the why, the how, etc... - in Dr. Anderson's book, " Cleanse and Purify Thyself: Book 1 " . I think I had my nose in that book every day for the first two years of being raw. It's packed full of information. I drank a gallon of water a day - maybe some days being short a liter. I also drank at least two quarts of fresh veggie juice every day. As I entered each phase I added more and more veggie juice. When I got to phase 3, I was drinking 4 quarts. If you feel you need help, my health coach has a tele-class coming up the first of January. One of the topics he dicusses is how to cleanse safely and with no cleansing reactions. Email me off list and I can get you the info. Good luck!! Guest guest
Yes, I did the Arise and Shine cleanse for 39 days. It's supposed to be a 28 day cleanse, but I wanted to get as many toxins out as possible. You see, previous to my deciding to go raw, I was diagnosed with cancerous nodes on my thyroid. One of them was sticking out of my neck and looked to be a little smaller than a ping pong ball. After the cleanse you could no longer see it with the naked eye. I worked, but it was not a strenuous job, and was paid salary, plus I had a very understanding boss that just wanted to see me get better. There were days that I only worked for 2 or 3 hours then had to go home and rest and take enemas. One of the reasons raw food is so healing is because it allows the body to start clearing out the gunk and re-alkalizes the body at the same time. The more minerals you can get into your body, the less detox symptoms you will experience. I suggest drinking at least two quarts of fresh, organic veggie juice a day even if you are not on a cleanse. Paula " Karen62879 " <Karen62879 rawfood Tuesday, November 14, 2006 1:02:59 PM Re: [Raw Food] Detox question So are you saying you did a juice fast or cleanse for 39 days in within the 39 days you lost 51 pounds? Was you able to work and juice fast? I just don't want to make myself sick by fasting I just want to do it right so I can get healthy. I was told by a doctor 2 day I have Antigen alopecia or something like that it is where I have to many male hormones and to little female hormones and that is causing my hair to fall out. That right there tells me I am toxic and need to do a fast.. So I have learned if I go raw my health will be much better and I will get in balance and even lose some weight.. And if I lost 51 pounds I would I know look and feel great.. But the weight is important thing for me to get under control..But, The main two things is that I keep the hair I want and prevent and stop the growing of hair I don't want and just feel better.. So I can have kids cause that is something I want so much and docs said until the antigens are balanced I might as well forget about kids cause it won't happen.. So I am sure you can see why I am searching for any and all knowledge I can get on juice fasting both benefits and non benefits.. I know I posted to more than one group but I just wanted to cover my bases and ask as many people for help to better understand all this as I could to help me not to mess up cause this is a big step for me and I want to do it right the first time if all possible.. Thanks for all the help, Karen
Guest guest
Hi Paula, Thanks very much for a such comprehensive explanation. I will definitely try that from December! I have started to eat raw, but still struggling with my feeling to stop eating so much nuts... Thanks ! Paule ,_._,___ >
Guest guest
I ate Soooooooooooo many nuts when I first went raw. In fact, my stomach used to distend from eating so many of them. I just couldn't stop and, quite frankly, didn't want to. Now days, and probably for the last six months I don't eat too many. I look at them and just don't find them appealing. I am an intuitive eater and do my best to listen to my body to tell me what to eat. For the most part that equals greens and avocados - any and all of them at least once a day! Go easy on yourself. You have a lifetime to figure it all out. Eat raw and be healthy, but don't stress out on the food you eat! Guest guest
I was wondering and I know this maybe silly to ask but I was in a health food store and saw some raw cheddar?? Is that or can that be part of a raw diet? Or is a raw diet nothing but raw fruits and veggies? Karen
Guest guest
I had to do the work-related Indian lunch once. Most places serve salad and fruit especially the buffets they always have lettuce, tomato, cucumber and some sort of melons available, so I just had that. At that point I was still eating yogurt, so I also ate the raiata, but that's not an option for a lot of people. Don't be afraid to pile a plate high with salad and fruit. And I think I had some apples or something that I brought and left at the office, just in case I was still hungry after. It's not a perfect solution, but it allows you to participate now and then, which is important. Most Indian places also serve Mango Lassi, which is a mango/yougurt drink. You might be able to see if they have fresh mangoes (in season) and could they cut you up a couple? I liked that I oculd at least SMELL the Indian foods I used to love so much. I suppose its because I lost many kilos 3 years ago, and body is trying to save each calorie.. I hope raw food will help me to relax and simply enjoy food... How do you deal the situations when you need to participate in official lunch with collegues? I am often invited for lunch in the Indian restourants which usualy serve only cooked food.
