Guest guest
With the holiday season and all the food everywhere, I haven't been doing so well. The extra weight from the " treats " is expanding my middle and I need help getting back on track. Is there some sort of food you would recommend I fast on (like a certain fruit) and can sort of clean my system and get rid of these awful sugar cravings I am having? The stress is playing a huge role, as my marriage hasn't been working out so well lately and I keep going towards the sweet stuff for a pick me up, or to get me throgh the day. Those that have been there, could you give me some encouraging words? Thanks Tiff
Guest guest
Tiffany, I don't know what your particular situation is or what your beliefs are but for me, when I am feeling low, rather due to marital stress, kid stress, etc I pray. It brings me peace knowing that all will work out. Food has definitely been a crutch for me many times also. Before I put anything in my mouth I would have to stop and think about if I really am hungry and if not I should not eat it. Grab a piece of gum or chew on some ice. Guest guest
Hi Tiff, I can relate to what you're saying. Thanksgiving and the last few days I've eaten more and worse than I had been. Family stress, temptation all around...it's challenging. But I wasn't trying to force myself to be perfect for a change! (That hasn't been too effective anyway!) And I have noticed I am more aware of my feelings in general, and before and after eating. And noticing how I feel after certain foods. I'm also being kinder to myself. Focusing on my feelings--or just simply the effects of foods (headache, runny nose, irritability, lack of energy, etc. on the negative side, and steadier energy, clear head, better mood, etc. on the other) takes me out of the cycle of judging myself. Before, I would go to that judgment instantly (or probably even before eating-- it probably starts when I THINK about eating things I " shouldn't " ), but that didn't allow me to really feel the feelings and symptoms. (It seems that berating myself isn't too effective, either! :-)) And the information of those details really helps me make decisions. We do the best we can... And noticing the progress I HAVE made really helps. On the more practical side, making sure you're eating enough-- especially sweet fruits--helps the sugar cravings. If you fill up on those first, it gets easier. Keep lots of them around, take smoothies with you, prepare it ahead of time, etc. It's definitely a LOT harder to choose the fruit if I wait til I'm starving and craving a brownie. Guest guest
I find that the days that I have energy soup or green smoothie (with at least 1/2 pound of greens per serving) for breakfast are the days that my cravings are best under control. It seems like the high amount of greens early in the day fully nutrifies me so that I am less likely to feel that I " desperately " need a sweet boost in the afternoon to get me through the day. Without the blended greens early in the day, I can go through horrible cravings. *********************************************************** Tom Spontelli Instructor Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute Aguada PR 00602 USA www.AnnWigmore.org Two week Living Foods Lifestyle Certification Program on tropical beach at one of the world's most respected Living Foods Institutes. *********************************************************** ______ Tiffany Beckwith Friday, November 24, 2006 9:19 AM rawfood [Raw Food] getting back on track Is there some sort of food you would recommend I fast on (like a certain fruit) and can sort of clean my system and get rid of these awful sugar cravings I am having?
